The Russell Inn is seeking an experienced and dependable Facilities / Maintenance Technician to support the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of its facilities in Canada. The successful candidate will perform preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshoot equipment and building systems, respond to maintenance concerns, and help ensure that guest and work areas remain safe, functional, and well-maintained. Previous experience in a well-known coffee shop, cafรฉ, or fast-food establishment is required.
Facilities / Maintenance Technician
Qualifications:
- Must have at least three (3) years of relevant experience in the same field.
- Must be a graduate of a two (2)- to four (4)-year vocational or college course.
- Must have good English communication skills.
- Must have previous experience working in a well-known coffee shop, cafรฉ, or fast-food establishment.
- Knowledge of general building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and facilities maintenance.
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot common facility and equipment problems.
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, maintenance equipment, and basic repair procedures.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices and safe equipment operation.
- Able to read and follow basic equipment manuals, maintenance instructions, and work procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship.
- Good problem-solving, organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
- Physically fit and capable of standing, walking, bending, lifting, and performing maintenance tasks for extended periods.
- Reliable, hardworking, disciplined, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
Willing to respond to urgent maintenance requirements and work flexible schedules when necessary.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine preventive and corrective maintenance on building facilities, equipment, fixtures, and systems.
- Inspect guest rooms, dining areas, kitchen areas, service areas, offices, storage spaces, and other facilities for maintenance issues.
- Troubleshoot and repair basic electrical, plumbing, mechanical, carpentry, and general building maintenance problems.
- Conduct regular inspections of electrical outlets, switches, lighting fixtures, plumbing fixtures, doors, windows, and other facility components.
- Repair or replace damaged fixtures, fittings, hardware, and other building components as required.
- Perform basic plumbing repairs, including leaks, clogged drains, faucets, toilets, and other plumbing fixtures.
- Perform basic electrical maintenance such as replacing bulbs, switches, outlets, and other components within the scope of assigned duties.
- Maintain kitchen and food service equipment and coordinate specialized repairs when necessary.
- Inspect and maintain refrigeration, ventilation, heating, cooling, and other facility-related equipment.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from management and other departments.
- Diagnose equipment failures and determine appropriate repair or maintenance actions.
- Coordinate with contractors and specialized service providers for major repairs, inspections, and technical work.
- Maintain maintenance tools, equipment, spare parts, and supplies in an organized and serviceable condition.
- Keep accurate records of inspections, repairs, preventive maintenance, and completed work.
- Monitor maintenance supplies and inform management when replacement parts or materials are required.
- Maintain clean and safe work areas before, during, and after maintenance activities.
- Follow manufacturer’s instructions, maintenance procedures, workplace safety requirements, and applicable regulations.
- Take appropriate precautions when working with electrical systems, machinery, chemicals, tools, and other potentially hazardous equipment.
- Assist with emergency maintenance situations and urgent facility repairs when required.
- Help ensure that facilities comply with established safety, cleanliness, and operational standards.
- Perform other facilities, maintenance, repair, and technical duties assigned by management.
