DRILL MACHINE OPERATOR

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience as a Drill Machine Operator or in a similar drilling-related position.
  • No minimum educational attainment is specified for this position.
  • Understanding of electro-hydraulic, CNC, or manual drilling rig systems and tooling.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, job orders, and technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of basic equipment servicing, inspection, and troubleshooting.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Physically capable of performing manual tasks and handling heavy materials safely.
  • Willing to work in varying weather conditions or underground environments, as required.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety procedures and proper PPE use.
  • Responsible, safety-conscious, and able to work effectively with a team.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate drilling machines and rigs according to job orders, technical drawings, and project requirements.
  • Study blueprints and technical specifications to determine hole dimensions, feed rates, spindle speeds, and appropriate tooling.
  • Understand and follow operating procedures for electro-hydraulic, CNC, or manual drilling systems.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections, basic servicing, and routine maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot common drilling machine and rig problems and report major faults for repair.
  • Select and prepare appropriate drilling tools and equipment for assigned tasks.
  • Monitor machine performance and ensure drilling operations meet required specifications.
  • Handle drilling materials, tools, and equipment, including lifting loads exceeding 25 kilograms when required and safe to do so.
  • Work in varying weather conditions or underground environments, depending on project requirements.
  • Follow workplace safety procedures, use required personal protective equipment (PPE), and implement hazard controls.
  • Keep work areas clean and organized and report unsafe conditions to supervisors.
  • Coordinate with supervisors and other crew members to complete assigned work efficiently.
