Building Engineer
Qualifications:
- Solid experience supervising the construction of terminal buildings, aircraft hangars, and large-span steel or concrete structures.
- Strong knowledge of integrating specialized airport systems, including baggage handling systems, HVAC, and fire suppression systems.
- High level of accuracy in interpreting engineering drawings, blueprint execution, and material specifications.
- Familiarity with Japanese engineering standards and quality requirements is highly preferred.
- Adaptable and resourceful in managing local workforces, subcontractors, and materials in remote project locations such as Tonga.
- Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and project coordination skills.
- Preferably not more than 50 years old.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise the construction and engineering activities of terminal buildings, hangars, and large-span steel or reinforced concrete structures.
- Ensure all construction work complies with approved engineering drawings, technical specifications, and strict Japanese engineering standards.
- Coordinate the installation and integration of specialized airport systems, including baggage handling systems, HVAC, fire suppression systems, and other building services.
- Review and monitor blueprint execution, material specifications, and construction methods to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance.
- Coordinate with project managers, consultants, contractors, subcontractors, and site personnel to ensure timely project completion.
- Monitor construction progress, conduct site inspections, and resolve engineering and technical issues.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards throughout the project.
- Prepare technical reports, progress updates, inspection records, and project documentation.
- Effectively manage local labor, subcontractors, and available construction resources in a remote island environment.
