Economic Contracting Center Co. is seeking a motivated and hardworking Assistant Mechanic / Assistant Mechanical Overhaul Technician to support the overhaul, repair, and rebuilding of diesel engines, gearboxes, and mechanical systems used in heavy equipment and commercial trucks. The successful candidate will assist senior technicians in workshop operations while following repair instructions, maintaining quality workmanship, and observing workplace safety procedures.

Assistant Mechanic

Qualifications:

• Technical/Vocational Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Diesel Mechanics, or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of practical workshop experience.
• Basic knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, gearboxes, and mechanical systems.
• Ability to read and understand workshop manuals, repair instructions, and technical procedures.
• Basic knowledge of mechanical inspection, component measurement, repair, and reassembly.
• Basic knowledge of using vernier calipers and micrometers is preferred.
• Familiarity with CAT, Komatsu, Volvo, Mercedes-Benz, MAN, or Sino Truck equipment is preferred.
• Physically fit and capable of working in a busy workshop environment.
• Good organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
• Strong work ethic and commitment to quality workmanship and workplace safety.
• Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Able to follow instructions and work effectively with mechanics and senior technicians.
• Reliable, hardworking, disciplined, and willing to perform hands-on mechanical work.

Responsibilities:

• Assist mechanics and senior technicians in the overhaul, repair, and rebuilding of diesel engines and gearboxes.
• Assist in the disassembly and reassembly of diesel engines, transmissions, and mechanical components.
• Inspect engine, gearbox, transmission, and other mechanical components for wear, damage, or defects.
• Clean, prepare, and organize mechanical parts before inspection, repair, or reassembly.
• Assist with the replacement of worn, damaged, or defective mechanical components.
• Support troubleshooting and basic diagnosis of diesel engines and transmission systems.
• Follow workshop manuals, repair instructions, technical procedures, and supervisor directions.
• Assist with measuring mechanical components using vernier calipers, micrometers, and other appropriate measuring tools.
• Record measurements and report abnormal component conditions to senior mechanics or supervisors.
• Assist with preventive maintenance and corrective repair activities for heavy equipment and commercial trucks.
• Properly use hand tools, power tools, lifting equipment, and workshop machinery.
• Maintain tools, equipment, spare parts, and work areas in clean and organized condition.
• Assist with engine and gearbox testing after overhaul or repair to ensure proper operation.
• Follow proper procedures for handling lubricants, oils, cleaning materials, and mechanical parts.
• Observe workshop safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Maintain good housekeeping standards in the workshop to help prevent accidents and equipment damage.
• Coordinate with mechanics, technicians, parts personnel, and other workshop staff.
• Assist in identifying and reporting equipment problems, damaged parts, and additional repair requirements.
• Complete assigned tasks accurately and within required workshop schedules.
• Perform other mechanical repair, maintenance, overhaul, and workshop duties as assigned by management.
