Disney Cruise Line is seeking a qualified and safety-conscious Assistant Electrician to support the Engineering Department in maintaining the vessel’s electrical systems and equipment. The successful candidate will assist in the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical equipment throughout the ship, ensuring reliable operation and compliance with maritime safety standards. This position requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multicultural shipboard environment.

Assistant Electrician

Qualifications:

• Certified Electrician with at least one (1) year of experience, preferably on large cruise vessels.
• Experience maintaining and repairing electrical systems in galleys, pantries, laundry facilities, and hotel operations.
• Knowledge of electrical systems used in lifeboats, rescue boats, tender vessels, and auxiliary equipment.
• Experience performing battery inspections, testing, maintenance, and replacement.
• Ability to carry out minor repairs on electrical appliances and equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.
• Knowledge of electrical safety standards and preventive maintenance procedures.
• Ability to use electrical testing instruments such as multimeters, insulation testers, and battery testers.
• Good communication and teamwork skills in a multicultural environment.
• Physically fit and capable of working in various shipboard locations, including confined spaces and elevated areas.
• Willing to work onboard Disney Cruise Line under a rotational contract.

Responsibilities:

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on shipboard electrical systems and equipment.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electrical equipment in galleys, pantries, laundry rooms, and launderette facilities.
• Maintain and repair electrical systems for lifeboats, rescue boats, and tender vessels.
• Conduct routine battery inspections, testing, charging, and replacement for tenders, rescue boats, lifeboats, and provision forklifts.
• Perform minor electrical repairs on appliances, lighting fixtures, switches, outlets, and small electrical equipment.
• Assist senior electricians with scheduled maintenance and emergency repair work.
• Diagnose electrical faults using appropriate testing instruments and repair techniques.
• Ensure electrical equipment operates safely and efficiently in accordance with company procedures.
• Read and interpret electrical diagrams, wiring schematics, technical manuals, and maintenance documentation.
• Maintain inventory of electrical spare parts, batteries, tools, and consumables.
• Keep electrical workshops, storage areas, tools, and equipment clean, organized, and ready for use.
• Follow lockout/tagout procedures and all electrical safety regulations during maintenance activities.
• Participate in emergency drills and fulfill assigned emergency response duties, including firefighting and damage control.
• Comply with company policies, maritime regulations, environmental standards, and occupational health and safety requirements.
• Record completed maintenance activities and report equipment issues to supervising engineers.
• Perform other electrical maintenance duties assigned by the Chief Electrician or Engineering Officers.
