MEDICAL RECORDS SPECIALIST

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years work experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management or related field
  2 years of professional HIMS experience

Responsibilities:

• Ensure the quality and protection of the patient’s medical data.
• He/she will organize, oversee, and protect patient health information data which includes symptoms, diagnoses, medical histories, test results, and procedures.
• International auditing and accreditation experience.
• Maintain the storage of protected health information in a manner that protects the confidentiality and safety of the patients
• Maintain medical records for patients including ensuring the accuracy and accessibility of the records for continuity of care throughout the lifetime of the patient. These include both paper and electronic medical records.
• Review medical records for compliance with national, international and private insurance guidelines. Collects, aggregates, analyses, and disseminates patient health information to those authorized to receive it
• Guarantee that medical information such as lab test results, nurse’s notes, and procedure records are accurate and protected, and able to be analysed.
• Ensures timely and accurate collection of health information, scanning of health record files and maintaining accurate and readily accessible records.
• Ensures indexing of health records, retrieval of scanned death, birth and discharge information and providing to authorized persons.
