The Marine Room is seeking a skilled and motivated Demi Chef de Partie / Commis Chef (Fresh Pasta) to join its professional kitchen team in the Turks and Caicos Islands. This opportunity is ideal for culinary professionals with experience in fresh pasta, dough, focaccia, and cookie production, with the flexibility to support pastry operations when required.

DEMI CHEF DE PARTIE / COMMIS CHEF (FRESH PASTA)

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a professional kitchen, restaurant, hotel, bakery, or pastry environment is preferred.
  • Experience in fresh pasta or dough preparation is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of fresh pasta, focaccia, cookie production, and basic baking techniques.
  • Strong manual skills and attention to detail when preparing, shaping, portioning, and finishing dough and pasta products.
  • Ability to support pastry operations as required.
  • Good understanding of food preparation, hygiene, sanitation, and safe food handling procedures.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced professional kitchen.
  • Good teamwork, communication, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods and perform kitchen-related tasks.
  • Reliable, hardworking, detail-oriented, and willing to learn and support different kitchen sections.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and produce fresh pasta, focaccia, cookies, and other dough-based products according to established recipes and quality standards.
  • Prepare fresh pasta dough by accurately measuring, mixing, kneading, rolling, shaping, and portioning ingredients.
  • Produce different types of fresh pasta while maintaining consistent texture, thickness, shape, and quality.
  • Prepare and bake focaccia and other bread or dough products according to kitchen requirements.
  • Assist with cookie preparation, including mixing, shaping, portioning, baking, and finishing.
  • Complete daily mise en place and ensure pasta, dough, and pastry components are prepared before service.
  • Support pastry operations with preparation, production, plating, and other tasks as required.
  • Follow recipes, preparation methods, cooking times, temperatures, and portioning standards accurately.
  • Monitor the quality, freshness, texture, appearance, and consistency of pasta and baked products.
  • Properly store, label, date, and rotate prepared dough, pasta, ingredients, and finished products.
  • Assist senior chefs and other kitchen staff during preparation and service.
  • Coordinate with other kitchen sections to ensure fresh pasta and dough products are available when needed.
  • Maintain proper food handling, hygiene, sanitation, and food safety practices.
  • Keep workstations, pasta equipment, mixers, ovens, utensils, and other kitchen equipment clean and organized.
  • Assist with inventory monitoring and report shortages or quality concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Minimize food waste through proper preparation, portioning, storage, and ingredient handling.
  • Follow kitchen safety procedures and properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.
  • Perform other pasta, baking, pastry, and kitchen duties assigned by management.
