The Marine Room is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Demi Chef de Partie (Pastry & Starters) to join its professional kitchen team in the Turks and Caicos Islands. This opportunity is ideal for culinary professionals with experience in pastry and starter preparation, strong manual skills, and the ability to perform efficiently during evening service.
DEMI CHEF DE PARTIE (PASTRY & STARTERS)
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a pastry kitchen, restaurant, hotel, or professional culinary environment.
- Experience with pastry and starter preparation is required.
- Ability to work effectively in the starter and dessert sections during evening service.
- Strong pastry knowledge and excellent manual skills, particularly in cookie production.
- Good understanding of baking techniques, dough preparation, pastry finishing, and dessert presentation.
- Strong attention to detail, precision, consistency, and presentation.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced professional kitchen.
- Good teamwork, communication, organization, and time-management skills.
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and proper food handling procedures.
- Reliable, hardworking, disciplined, and willing to learn and support the kitchen team.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and execute pastries, desserts, starters, and related menu items according to established recipes and quality standards.
- Work primarily in the starter and dessert sections during evening service, ensuring timely and consistent food preparation.
- Prepare cookies, pastries, dessert components, starter ingredients, sauces, garnishes, and other assigned items.
- Handle dough preparation, mixing, shaping, portioning, baking, decorating, and finishing of pastry products.
- Perform cookie production and other pastry preparations with precision and consistency.
- Assist with daily mise en place for pastry and starter sections before service.
- Ensure proper portioning, plating, presentation, and finishing of starters and desserts.
- Follow recipes, preparation methods, cooking times, temperatures, and presentation standards accurately.
- Monitor the quality, freshness, texture, appearance, and consistency of pastry and starter components.
- Assist senior chefs and the Chef de Partie during preparation and service.
- Coordinate with other kitchen sections to ensure smooth service and timely completion of orders.
- Maintain proper food handling, storage, sanitation, and hygiene practices.
- Keep workstations, ovens, mixers, utensils, equipment, and storage areas clean and organized.
- Store and label prepared ingredients and products properly to maintain quality and freshness.
- Assist with inventory monitoring and ensure adequate supplies of pastry and starter ingredients.
- Minimize food waste through proper preparation, portioning, storage, and ingredient handling.
- Follow kitchen safety procedures and properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.
- Perform other pastry, starter preparation, and kitchen duties assigned by management.
