Fiber Optic Installation Technician

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10 years of working experience in fiber optic, telecommunication, or related fields.
  • Vocational Diploma / Short Course Certificate in Engineering (Computer/Telecommunication), Engineering (Electrical/Electronic), or similar fields.
  • Male applicants are preferred for this role.
  • Knowledge of fiber optic types, networking fundamentals, and relevant installation tools.
  • Previous experience with fiber optics, cable television, or telecommunication installations; some employers may offer training if needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Install and run fiber optic cables, including both single-mode and multi-mode fibers.
  • Perform splicing (fusion and mechanical), termination, and installation of splitters, closures, and other fiber components.
  • Troubleshoot, test, and repair damaged fiber lines to maintain optimal network performance.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance to ensure continuous network uptime.
  • Configure modems, routers, and switches for Customer Premises Equipment (CPE).
  • Utilize fiber optic tools such as fiber strippers, cleavers, and OTDRs to complete tasks efficiently.
  • Follow safety protocols and ensure all installations meet technical standards.
  • Collaborate with the engineering and field teams to provide timely solutions.
