Africa Atlantic Rubber Industry Limited is seeking experienced and safety-conscious Vulcanization Assistants to support tire manufacturing operations in Nigeria. The successful candidates will assist in preparing tire molds, operating vulcanization presses, monitoring temperature and pressure during curing, conducting quality inspections, and maintaining production equipment while strictly following factory safety and quality standards.

VULCANIZATION ASSISTANT

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a tire factory production line, preferably with experience in vulcanization or tire curing operations.
• Vocational Diploma / Short Course Certificate holder in Engineering (Industrial), Engineering (Mechanical), or a related field.
• High school or technical/vocational school graduate; mechanical or industrial background is preferred.
• Familiarity with tire manufacturing, vulcanization, and curing processes.
• Knowledge of operating or assisting with vulcanization presses and related production equipment.
• Familiarity with temperature and pressure monitoring during tire curing operations.
• Basic knowledge of quality inspection standards for finished tires.
• Ability to identify common defects and irregularities in cured tires.
• Good understanding of machine operation, production procedures, and workplace safety requirements.
• Good English communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Team-oriented and able to work effectively with supervisors and other production personnel.
• Demonstrated leadership potential and willingness to train and guide Nigerian local employees when assigned to a team-leader role.
• Willingness to work rotating 12-hour shifts according to the factory schedule.
• Physically capable of working in a manufacturing environment involving high temperatures and extended periods of standing.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
• Strict safety awareness and compliance with factory rules, procedures, and applicable regulations.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare, inspect, and clean tire molds before the start of production.
• Ensure molds are properly prepared and free from dirt, residue, or foreign materials before loading.
• Assist in loading green tires into vulcanization presses according to production procedures.
• Operate vulcanization presses safely and efficiently to cure green tires into finished products.
• Monitor curing cycles and ensure the required production parameters are maintained.
• Monitor temperature and pressure settings throughout the vulcanization process.
• Make or report necessary adjustments to machine settings according to established production standards and supervisor instructions.
• Observe curing times and operating conditions to ensure proper vulcanization of tires.
• Inspect cured tires for visible defects, irregularities, deformation, and other quality issues.
• Check finished tires for uniformity and compliance with required product specifications.
• Identify and separate defective or non-conforming tires for further inspection or corrective action.
• Record or report production and quality inspection results as required.
• Maintain proper handling of green tires, molds, and finished products to prevent damage.
• Clean vulcanization presses, molds, tools, and surrounding work areas regularly.
• Assist with basic maintenance and routine cleaning of vulcanization equipment.
• Report machine malfunctions, abnormal temperatures or pressure readings, leaks, and other equipment problems to supervisors or maintenance personnel.
• Follow production schedules, work instructions, quality control procedures, and factory operating standards.
• Strictly follow safety procedures when working with high-temperature equipment, presses, molds, and curing operations.
• Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all workplace safety regulations.
• Maintain good housekeeping around the vulcanization area to reduce workplace hazards.
• Work rotating 12-hour shifts according to the factory production schedule.
• Coordinate with production workers, supervisors, quality personnel, and maintenance staff to maintain smooth operations.
• Assist in training and guiding Nigerian local employees on safe production procedures when assigned or promoted to a team-leader position.
• Perform other vulcanization and tire production duties as assigned by management.
