Transport Refrigeration Technician

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience.
• Vocational diploma or short-course certificate in a relevant technical field.
• Vocational or technical training in Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning (RAC) is preferred.
• Knowledge of troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on truck refrigeration units and cooling systems.
• Experience in transport refrigeration, particularly refrigerated trucks and trailers used for frozen and chilled food products.
• Ability to identify refrigeration system faults and perform appropriate repairs.
• Familiarity with refrigeration components, cooling systems, and temperature controls.
• Ability to follow technical instructions and workplace safety procedures.
• Male applicants are preferred for this role.

Responsibilities:

• Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair refrigeration units installed in trucks and trailers.
• Perform preventive maintenance on transport refrigeration systems to ensure reliable operation.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration system faults and implement appropriate repairs.
• Maintain cooling systems used for transporting frozen and chilled food products.
• Check refrigeration components, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, fans, and temperature controls.
• Monitor cooling performance and ensure refrigeration units maintain the required temperatures.
• Conduct routine inspections and identify potential equipment problems before breakdowns occur.
• Test refrigeration units after repairs and maintenance to verify proper operation.
• Maintain service records and document completed maintenance and repair work.
• Follow workplace safety procedures and proper refrigerant handling practices.
