Tig Welder

Qualifications:

• Vocational Diploma, short course certificate, or equivalent qualification in a related technical field.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.
• At least 5 years of marine pipe welding experience, specifically in new ship and submarine construction.
• Proficiency in GTAW (TIG) and SMAW (Stick) welding on stainless steel, carbon steel, and copper-nickel pipes.
• Expertise in 6G welding positions and orbital welding techniques.
• Familiarity with ASME Section IX, IACS classification society standards, and welding inspection requirements.
• Knowledge of Visual Testing (VT) and Dye Penetrant Testing (PT), with basic knowledge of Radiographic Testing (RT) and Ultrasonic Testing (UT).
• Ability to interpret piping isometric drawings and follow project specifications.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
• Commitment to workplace safety and proper PPE usage.
• Male applicants are preferred for this position.

Responsibilities:

• Perform TIG welding and related welding tasks according to piping isometric drawings and project specifications.
• Weld stainless steel, carbon steel, and copper-nickel pipes using Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW/TIG) and Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW/Stick) processes.
• Carry out welding in the 6G position and perform orbital welding techniques when required.
• Ensure completed welds comply with ASME Section IX, applicable non-destructive testing (NDT) requirements, and relevant IACS classification standards.
• Conduct visual testing (VT) and dye penetrant testing (PT) on completed welds as required.
• Support other inspection activities, including radiographic testing (RT) and ultrasonic testing (UT), where applicable.
• Follow approved welding procedures, project specifications, and quality control requirements.
• Observe workplace safety protocols and use the required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Complete assigned welding tasks within project schedules and strict deadlines.
