TAILOR

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of relevant working experience as a Tailor, Dressmaker, Seamstress, or in a similar position.
• Vocational Diploma / Short Course Certificate in Textile, Fashion Design & Production, or a similar field is preferred.
• High school graduate; vocational training in Tailoring, Dressmaking, Garment Technology, or a related field is an advantage.
• Male applicants are preferred for this role.
• Strong knowledge of garment construction, sewing, cutting, alteration, and finishing techniques.
• Proven ability to accurately take and record body measurements.
• Skilled in operating sewing machines and using hand-stitching techniques.
• Ability to read and follow garment patterns, measurements, and design specifications.
• Good fitting and alteration skills with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to produce neat, accurate, and high-quality garment finishes.
• Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
• Creative, precise, patient, and customer-focused.
• Physically fit and capable of performing tailoring duties for extended periods.

Responsibilities:

• Accurately measure customers and record body measurements for garment production and alteration.
• Interpret patterns, measurements, sketches, and design specifications.
• Cut fabrics accurately according to patterns, measurements, and garment designs.
• Prepare fabrics and materials for sewing and garment assembly.
• Sew garments using industrial and standard sewing machines.
• Perform hand-stitching and other manual sewing techniques when required.
• Assemble garment sections according to patterns and design specifications.
• Perform garment alterations to achieve the required fit and appearance.
• Conduct fitting sessions and identify areas requiring adjustment.
• Make necessary adjustments to garment length, width, sleeves, waist, shoulders, hems, and other areas.
• Repair damaged or defective garments using appropriate sewing and finishing techniques.
• Perform hemming, stitching, edging, fastening, and other garment-finishing tasks.
• Ensure seams, stitches, patterns, and garment details are neat and properly finished.
• Inspect completed garments for defects, loose stitches, uneven seams, and other quality issues.
• Maintain accurate measurements, alteration notes, and customer garment details.
• Select appropriate fabrics, threads, needles, and other materials based on garment requirements.
• Operate and maintain sewing machines and tailoring equipment safely and properly.
• Keep the tailoring area, machines, tools, and materials clean and organized.
• Minimize fabric waste through accurate measurement and efficient cutting.
• Follow customer specifications, garment designs, and company quality standards.
• Complete assigned tailoring and alteration work within required deadlines.
• Perform other tailoring, sewing, alteration, and garment-related duties as assigned.
