The Ministry of Health Sultanate of Oman is seeking qualified Specialists in Emergency Medicine to provide advanced emergency medical care and manage critical patient cases in healthcare facilities across Oman. The successful candidate will be responsible for rapid assessment, life-saving interventions, clinical decision-making, and coordination of emergency care services while ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and medical excellence.
SPECIALIST EMERGENCY MEDICINE
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in Emergency Medicine.
- Doctorate Degree holder in Medicine or a related field.
- Medical degree (MD, DO, or MBBS) with a valid license to practice in the relevant jurisdiction.
- Completion of specialized residency training in Emergency Medicine and/or appropriate board certification.
- Valid certifications in:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Strong crisis management skills and ability to make critical decisions under pressure.
- Excellent diagnostic abilities across multiple medical disciplines.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and patient-care skills.
Responsibilities:
- Perform rapid assessment and triage of patients based on the severity of symptoms, injuries, and medical conditions.
- Provide advanced emergency care and perform life-saving procedures including airway management, intubation, defibrillation, chest tube placement, and trauma stabilization.
- Manage critically ill and injured patients requiring immediate medical intervention.
- Make clinical decisions regarding patient disposition, including hospital admission, specialist consultation, ICU transfer, or safe discharge.
- Communicate clearly with patients and families regarding medical conditions, treatment plans, and care instructions, especially during high-stress situations.
- Coordinate with emergency teams, nursing staff, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure effective patient management.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation and comply with clinical guidelines and healthcare standards.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement, emergency preparedness, and patient safety initiatives.
- Provide leadership and support during emergency response situations.
