Economic Contracting Center Co. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Technician / Mechanical Overhaul Technician to perform complete engine and gearbox overhauls on heavy equipment and commercial trucks in Saudi Arabia. The successful candidate should have strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills, with extensive experience repairing and rebuilding manual, automatic, and powershift transmissions while following technical specifications, quality standards, and safe workshop practices.
Senior Mechanical Technician
Qualifications:
- Diploma or Technical Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Diesel Mechanics, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on engine and gearbox overhaul experience.
- Extensive experience in gearbox repair and rebuilding, including manual, automatic, and powershift transmissions.
- Strong knowledge of transmission mechanical failure diagnosis and troubleshooting.
- Ability to inspect and measure gearbox and transmission components accurately.
- Knowledge of gearbox component assembly, clearances, tolerances, and adjustment procedures.
- Experience performing transmission and powershift performance testing.
- Knowledge of transmission lubrication systems and transmission adjustment procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, engineering drawings, repair instructions, and equipment specifications.
- Strong analytical, diagnostic, and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Experience working with heavy equipment and commercial trucks.
- Experience with CAT, Komatsu, Volvo, Hitachi, Mercedes-Benz, MAN, and Sino Truck is preferred.
- Basic English communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and provide technical support to other mechanics.
- Physically fit and capable of performing hands-on mechanical overhaul work in a busy workshop environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Responsibilities:
- Perform complete overhaul, repair, rebuilding, and maintenance of engines, gearboxes, and transmission systems.
- Diagnose mechanical faults and determine the cause of gearbox and transmission failures.
- Disassemble and inspect manual, automatic, and powershift gearboxes and transmission assemblies.
- Inspect gears, shafts, bearings, clutches, seals, synchronizers, housings, and other transmission components for wear or damage.
- Measure gearbox and transmission components using appropriate precision measuring instruments.
- Determine whether components should be repaired, rebuilt, adjusted, or replaced based on inspection results.
- Reassemble gearboxes and transmission systems according to manufacturer specifications and technical procedures.
- Perform manual, automatic, and powershift gearbox repair and rebuilding.
- Diagnose mechanical transmission failures and identify root causes of abnormal operation.
- Inspect and maintain lubrication systems, oil passages, filters, pumps, and related transmission components.
- Perform required transmission adjustments and ensure proper component clearances and settings.
- Conduct gearbox and transmission performance testing after overhaul or repair.
- Test shifting performance, gear engagement, operating pressure, noise, vibration, and other operating conditions.
- Assist with engine overhaul, inspection, repair, and reassembly when required.
- Read and interpret technical manuals, engineering drawings, repair procedures, and equipment specifications.
- Follow OEM repair procedures and manufacturer-recommended tolerances, measurements, and assembly methods.
- Use mechanical hand tools, power tools, lifting equipment, and specialized workshop equipment safely.
- Maintain accurate records of inspection findings, measurements, replaced components, repairs, and overhaul activities.
- Identify recurring mechanical problems and recommend corrective measures to improve equipment reliability.
- Coordinate with hydraulic, electrical, and other mechanical technicians during equipment troubleshooting and repair.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior mechanics and technicians when required.
- Maintain workshop tools, equipment, workstations, and overhaul areas in clean and organized condition.
- Follow proper procedures for handling lubricants, oils, cleaning agents, and other workshop materials.
- Observe workplace health and safety requirements and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Perform other mechanical overhaul, repair, maintenance, and technical duties as assigned by management.
