Senior Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in heavy equipment maintenance and repair.
• Holder of a Vocational Diploma or Short Course Certificate in a related technical field.
• Advanced diploma or equivalent in Mechanics, Heavy Equipment Maintenance, or a related discipline.
• Strong English communication skills.
• In-depth knowledge of Hydraulic systems, Diesel engines, Electronic control systems
• Heavy equipment mechanical components
• Proficient in using computerized diagnostic tools and specialized heavy equipment testing equipment.
• Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and guide junior mechanics.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and safe maintenance practices.
• Physically fit and capable of working in demanding industrial and outdoor environments.
• Flexible and willing to respond to emergency repairs outside regular working hours.

Responsibilities:

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain heavy equipment, diesel engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions, and electrical components.
• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on heavy machinery to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
• Inspect equipment and identify mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electronic faults using advanced diagnostic tools.
• Repair or replace defective components, including engines, transmissions, pumps, cylinders, hydraulic hoses, electrical wiring, and control systems.
• Operate computerized diagnostic equipment to identify equipment malfunctions and verify repairs.
• Read and interpret service manuals, technical drawings, hydraulic schematics, and electrical diagrams.
• Conduct equipment testing and commissioning after repairs to ensure proper operation.
• Supervise and mentor junior mechanics by providing technical guidance and on-the-job training.
• Plan and prioritize maintenance activities to meet operational schedules.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, and repair documentation.
• Coordinate with maintenance supervisors and operations personnel regarding equipment availability and repair priorities.
• Ensure workshop tools, diagnostic equipment, and maintenance facilities are properly maintained.
• Enforce workplace safety procedures and ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.
• Respond to emergency equipment breakdowns, including after-hours repair requests when necessary.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop environment.
• Perform other heavy equipment maintenance duties assigned by management.
