Safety Engineer
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 8 years of working experience is required.
- Must have 8 years of experience from the date of qualification, with at least 5 years involving the development, oversight, and coordination of construction, operational, and/or community programs.
- Candidates must be a Bachelor’s / College Degree holder in Engineering (Chemical), Engineering (Civil), Engineering (Electrical/Electronic),
- Engineering (Environmental/Health/Safety), Engineering (Mechanical), or similar fields.
- A Bachelor of Science Degree in Safety Engineering or Occupational Safety from a fully accredited and reputed university is preferred, or an equivalent qualification in Chemical, Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
- Must be a certified member of a recognized professional safety organization, such as the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE), Canadian
- Society of Safety Engineering (CSSE), or an equivalent recognized professional safety organization.
- Must be familiar with HAZCOM (Hazard Communication) and HAZMAT (Hazardous Materials) requirements and practices.
- Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety principles, workplace hazard identification, risk assessment, and hazard-control measures.
- Knowledge of construction and operational safety practices and procedures.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and coordination skills.
- Ability to conduct safety inspections, audits, investigations, and risk assessments accurately.
- Ability to develop and implement safety programs and effectively coordinate with project and operational teams.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to work effectively in construction and industrial environments.

Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive occupational health and safety programs for construction and operational activities.
- Oversee and coordinate safety programs covering construction, operations, and community-related activities.
- Conduct workplace inspections, safety audits, and hazard assessments to identify unsafe conditions and practices.
- Identify potential physical, chemical, mechanical, electrical, and environmental hazards in the workplace.
- Recommend and implement appropriate corrective and preventive measures to control identified hazards.
- Monitor compliance with established safety policies, procedures, standards, and applicable regulations.
- Prepare and review Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), risk assessments, and safe work procedures.
- Ensure workers understand and follow approved safety procedures and required control measures.
- Conduct safety orientations, toolbox meetings, awareness sessions, and other safety training programs.
- Promote safe work practices and encourage a strong safety culture among employees, contractors, and site personnel.
- Monitor the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and other required safety controls.
- Support the implementation of Hazard Communication (HAZCOM) requirements in the workplace.
- Assist in the safe handling, storage, labeling, transportation, and use of hazardous materials in accordance with HAZMAT requirements.
- Review chemical safety information, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and hazardous-material handling procedures.
- Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe occurrences and recommend corrective actions.
- Prepare accurate safety reports, inspection records, incident reports, and other required documentation.
- Monitor safety performance indicators and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, supervisors, contractors, and workers regarding safety requirements.
- Participate in emergency preparedness, response planning, drills, and other safety-related activities.
- Ensure proper implementation of emergency procedures and workplace evacuation requirements.
- Monitor construction activities to ensure that work is performed in accordance with approved safety plans and procedures.
- Provide technical safety guidance to management and site personnel on workplace hazards and risk-control measures.
- Assist in reviewing safety aspects of construction methods, equipment, work activities, and operational procedures.
- Maintain current knowledge of occupational safety practices, industry standards, and relevant safety requirements.
- Perform other safety engineering, occupational safety, and related duties assigned by management.
