Pipe Fitter and Plumber
Qualifications:
- 3–5 years of overseas work experience in pipe fitting and/or plumbing.
- Not more than 45 years old.
- Experience in both pipe protection and HVAC pipe installation is ideal.
- Experienced in commercial construction projects such as hospitals, malls, laboratories, clinics, high-rise residences, schools, stadiums, and office buildings.
- Skilled in pipe installation, fitting, joining, and related plumbing works.
- Experience performing copper pipe brazing is required.
- Experience working with stainless steel, Victaulic, GI (galvanized iron), and sprinkler piping is an advantage.
- Able to read and understand technical drawings, pipe layouts, HVAC plans, and installation specifications.
- Good knowledge of pipe measurements, alignment, fittings, supports, and installation procedures.
- Physically fit and capable of performing construction work, including standing, bending, lifting, and working at heights or in confined areas when required.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Able to work effectively with a multicultural construction team and follow supervisors’ instructions.
- Willing to take and pass an English language test: IELTS 4.0 or PTE 29.
- Willing to comply with applicable employment, safety, and deployment requirements for work in New Zealand.
Responsibilities:
- Install, assemble, fit, and maintain piping systems according to project plans, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Perform plumbing and pipe fitting work for commercial, residential, institutional, and industrial building projects.
- Install HVAC-related piping systems, including chilled water, heating, drainage, and other mechanical pipework as required.
- Carry out pipe protection and related installation work to ensure piping systems are properly secured and protected.
- Measure, cut, thread, bend, join, and install pipes according to required dimensions and specifications.
- Perform copper pipe brazing and other approved pipe joining methods.
- Work with stainless steel, galvanized iron (GI), Victaulic, copper, and other piping systems as required.
- Install and connect plumbing fixtures, valves, fittings, supports, and related components.
- Assist with the installation of fire sprinkler piping systems when required.
- Read and interpret plumbing drawings, HVAC plans, pipe layouts, and construction specifications.
- Accurately determine pipe routes, measurements, elevations, and connection points before installation.
- Install pipe supports, brackets, hangers, and other required structural components.
- Inspect completed pipework and connections for proper alignment, fit, leaks, and workmanship.
- Conduct pressure testing and basic troubleshooting of installed piping systems as instructed.
- Identify defective materials, leaks, blockages, or installation issues and report them to supervisors.
- Coordinate with plumbers, HVAC technicians, electricians, builders, and other construction workers on site.
- Follow project schedules and complete assigned pipe fitting and plumbing work within required timelines.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition.
- Follow New Zealand workplace health and safety requirements and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Perform other pipe fitting, plumbing, HVAC piping, and related construction duties assigned by the supervisor.
