HULL & OUTFITTING FOREMAN

Qualifications:

• At least 10 years of experience in Hull & Outfitting work, preferably in a marine environment.
• Experienced in ARC welding processes, preferably including TIG and MIG welding.
• Experienced in oxy-fuel welding and cutting.
• Experienced in sandblasting and painting, including the application of anti-fouling paint.
• Experience in marine hull repair, outfitting, fabrication, and related shipyard activities is highly relevant.
• Experience supervising and coordinating skilled workers in hull and outfitting operations.
• Knowledge of welding, fabrication, surface preparation, painting, and marine repair procedures.
• Ability to inspect work quality and identify welding, fabrication, surface preparation, and coating defects.
• FRP/GRP composite repair and gel coating experience is preferred but not required.
• Good leadership, communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work safely and efficiently in a marine or shipyard environment.
• Physically capable of performing and supervising work in demanding marine and industrial conditions.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise and coordinate daily hull and outfitting repair activities in marine and shipyard environments.
• Lead and assign tasks to welders, fabricators, painters, and other workers involved in hull and outfitting operations.
• Perform and supervise ARC welding, including TIG and MIG welding processes, as required.
• Carry out and oversee oxy-fuel welding and cutting activities.
• Inspect hull structures and marine components to identify damage, corrosion, defects, and areas requiring repair.
• Supervise fabrication, fitting, alignment, installation, and repair of hull and outfitting components.
• Ensure welding and fabrication work follows approved procedures, technical specifications, and required quality standards.
• Supervise sandblasting and surface preparation before painting and coating applications.
• Oversee the application of marine paints, protective coatings, and anti-fouling paint.
• Inspect painted surfaces for proper coverage, adhesion, finish, and overall quality.
• Coordinate repair activities involving steel and other marine structural materials.
• Monitor work progress and ensure assigned jobs are completed according to schedule.
• Conduct regular inspections of completed hull, welding, outfitting, and painting work.
• Ensure proper use, handling, and maintenance of welding machines, cutting equipment, painting tools, and other workshop equipment.
• Enforce safe working practices, including proper PPE use and compliance with marine and shipyard safety procedures.
• Ensure appropriate precautions are followed during hot work, welding, cutting, sandblasting, painting, and other hazardous activities.
• Coordinate with supervisors, technicians, welders, painters, and other departments to maintain smooth workflow.
• Monitor manpower, materials, tools, and equipment needed for assigned work.
• Report work progress, technical issues, material requirements, and safety concerns to management.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas and ensure proper disposal of waste materials.
• Provide guidance and technical support to crew members to maintain productivity and workmanship standards.
