FLOOR COVERING INSTALLER / CARPET INSTALLER

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in floor covering or carpet installation.
• Vocational diploma or short-course certificate in a related field.
• Practical knowledge of carpet installation techniques and floor covering materials.
• Experience using professional carpet-laying tools and equipment.
• Ability to measure work areas, calculate material requirements, and prepare installation specifications.
• Ability to remove old flooring and install new carpets in residential and commercial settings.
• Must be able to speak and understand English.
• Good attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to follow technical instructions and workplace safety requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Remove and install carpets in homes, offices, commercial establishments, and public buildings.
• Lay floor coverings in offices, airports, restaurants, residential properties, and other commercial facilities.
• Measure rooms and work areas accurately and prepare specifications for carpet installation.
• Inspect and prepare floor surfaces before installing carpets and other floor coverings.
• Remove, collect, and dispose of old carpets and flooring materials appropriately.
• Use carpet installation tools, including carpet shears, knee kickers, wall trimmers, loop pile cutters, heat irons, and power stretchers.
• Cut, fit, stretch, and secure carpets to achieve a neat and professional finish.
• Install carpet on walls and ceilings when required by the project specifications.
• Present carpet samples and assist with material selection when necessary.
• Check completed installations to ensure proper fitting, alignment, and quality.
• Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition and follow workplace safety procedures.
