Minerva Navis S.R.L is seeking skilled and experienced FCAW or MIG-MAG Welders to join its shipbuilding, ship repair, and steel fabrication operations in Romania. The successful candidates will perform welding on steel plates, structures, pipes, and ship components using FCAW and/or MIG-MAG welding processes while maintaining proper weld quality, equipment condition, and workplace safety standards.

FCAW OR MIG-MAG WELDER

Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 years of working experience is required.
• At least high school graduate.
• Knowledge of FCAW and/or MIG-MAG welding.
• Experience in shipbuilding, ship repair, or steel fabrication is preferred.
• Proven ability to weld steel plates, structures, pipes, and ship components.
• Familiarity with FCAW and/or MIG-MAG welding equipment, consumables, and basic welding parameters.
• Ability to read and follow welding procedures, technical drawings, measurements, and work instructions.
• Knowledge of proper weld preparation, fit-up, alignment, and finishing.
• Ability to visually inspect welds and identify common welding defects.
• Able to safely operate welding machines, grinders, cutting tools, and other fabrication equipment.
• Physically fit and capable of lifting, carrying, bending, climbing, and working in shipyard or industrial environments.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Good understanding of welding safety, fire prevention, PPE, and safe handling of welding equipment and gases.
• Able to work effectively with welders, fitters, fabricators, supervisors, and other project personnel.
• Responsible, hardworking, reliable, and able to follow technical and safety instructions.

Responsibilities:

• Perform welding using FCAW and/or MIG-MAG welding processes according to project specifications.
• Weld steel plates, structural components, pipes, frames, and ship components.
• Perform welding work according to approved drawings, welding procedures, and technical instructions.
• Prepare metal surfaces, joints, edges, and workpieces before welding.
• Set up welding machines and select appropriate welding parameters for the assigned work.
• Select and properly use welding consumables, wires, gases, and related materials.
• Perform tack welding and complete welds while maintaining proper alignment and fit-up.
• Inspect welds visually for defects, cracks, porosity, undercut, incomplete fusion, and other irregularities.
• Correct welding defects and perform necessary repairs according to approved procedures.
• Maintain consistent weld quality, penetration, appearance, and structural integrity.
• Work closely with ship fitters, pipe fitters, fabricators, supervisors, and other shipyard personnel.
• Weld in different positions and work on various steel structures and components as required.
• Use welding tools, grinders, cutting equipment, clamps, measuring instruments, and other fabrication tools safely.
• Perform basic maintenance, cleaning, and inspection of welding machines and equipment.
• Check welding cables, connections, regulators, torches, hoses, and other equipment before use.
• Report defective welding equipment, materials, or safety hazards to the supervisor.
• Follow welding procedures, quality standards, shipyard requirements, and technical instructions.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe welding area.
• Follow occupational health and safety procedures and properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Handle welding gases, consumables, tools, and materials safely and correctly.
• Perform other welding, fabrication, repair, and shipyard duties assigned by management.
