Baobab Marine is seeking an experienced Marine Electrician to join its team in the Fiji Islands. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment on yachts, marine pleasure crafts, and similar marine vessels. Candidates must have strong hands-on marine electrical experience and be capable of working safely and efficiently in a marine environment.

Electrician

Qualifications:

• Must have 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in the marine industry.
• Must have relevant electrical experience working on yachts, marine pleasure crafts, or similar marine vessels.
• Must have hands-on experience providing electrical and related services for marine vessels.
• Strong practical knowledge of marine electrical systems, wiring, equipment, and components.
• Experience in electrical troubleshooting, testing, repair, installation, and preventive maintenance.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams, wiring schematics, and technical documentation.
• Skilled in using electrical testing equipment, hand tools, and other tools required for marine electrical work.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to identify electrical faults and perform appropriate corrective actions.
• Good understanding of electrical safety procedures and safe working practices.
• Ability to work effectively in a marine environment and adapt to vessel-specific working conditions.
• Good teamwork and communication skills when working with marine technicians and other vessel personnel.
• Physically fit and capable of performing hands-on electrical work in potentially confined and demanding marine environments.
• Reliable, responsible, safety-conscious, and able to work independently when required.
• Willingness to work in the Fiji Islands and comply with company and workplace safety requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Install, maintain, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems on marine vessels.
• Perform electrical work on yachts, marine pleasure crafts, and other similar vessels.
• Diagnose electrical faults and determine appropriate repair or replacement requirements.
• Install and maintain marine wiring, cables, electrical panels, switches, outlets, lighting systems, and related components.
• Conduct testing and inspections to ensure electrical systems operate safely and reliably.
• Read and interpret electrical diagrams, wiring schematics, equipment manuals, and technical instructions.
• Perform hands-on electrical repairs and maintenance according to vessel requirements and technical specifications.
• Inspect electrical components for signs of wear, damage, corrosion, loose connections, or other defects.
• Troubleshoot electrical circuits, connections, equipment, and related marine electrical systems.
• Assist with installation, servicing, and maintenance of electrical equipment and vessel systems.
• Ensure electrical installations are properly secured, connected, insulated, and protected against the marine environment.
• Carry out preventive electrical maintenance to reduce equipment failures and operational downtime.
• Use electrical testing instruments and hand tools safely and correctly.
• Maintain accurate records of electrical inspections, repairs, maintenance activities, and replacement components.
• Coordinate with marine engineers, technicians, mechanics, and other vessel personnel during repair and maintenance activities.
• Follow established marine electrical procedures, technical specifications, and safety requirements.
• Ensure all electrical work is completed with proper attention to quality, reliability, and workmanship.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and properly store tools and electrical materials.
• Identify and report electrical hazards, equipment defects, and other safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
• Follow appropriate safety procedures when working with electrical systems, confined spaces, wet environments, and marine equipment.
• Perform other marine electrical maintenance, installation, and repair duties assigned by management.
