DCS Operator
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience is required.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in chemical engineering or process operations is preferred.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience as a DCS Operator or in a similar role in a chemical plant, preferably in soda ash or calcium chloride production.
- Experience with the Solvay process is preferred.
- Familiarity with ammonia recovery, lime kiln operation, carbon dioxide absorption, and related chemical plant operations is an advantage.
- Proven experience in the safe handling of hazardous chemicals and high-pressure systems.
- Certification or documented training in DCS operation and process control systems.
- Basic understanding of chemical plant processes, particularly the Solvay process.
- Ability to monitor process conditions, identify abnormalities, troubleshoot problems, and take timely corrective action.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety, operational efficiency, and established procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Operate and monitor the Distributed Control System (DCS) to maintain smooth and efficient chemical plant operations.
- Adjust process control variables to support optimal production levels of soda ash and calcium chloride.
- Monitor process parameters, equipment performance, alarms, and operating conditions through the control system.
- Identify deviations from standard operating conditions, diagnose operational problems, and take appropriate corrective action.
- Coordinate with field operators and other plant personnel to resolve process abnormalities and maintain production efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures and protocols involving hazardous chemicals, high-pressure systems, and chemical reactions.
- Monitor and support key Solvay process operations, including ammonia recovery, lime kiln operation, and carbon dioxide absorption, where applicable.
- Maintain accurate operating records, production data, and shift reports.
- Report equipment malfunctions, process irregularities, and safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
- Follow established operating procedures and environmental, health, and safety requirements.
