COST ENGINEER (Yachting)

Qualifications:

  • Vocational Diploma (MBO+) or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Several years of relevant experience in the shipbuilding or maritime industry.
  • Proven experience in cost estimation and calculation of electrical installations, including materials, labor hours, and subcontracting costs.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, and technical specifications.
  • Strong knowledge of onboard electrical systems, including power generation and distribution, control and monitoring, navigation, and communication systems.
  • Experience preparing accurate cost estimates, quotation files, project budgets, and commercial proposals.
  • Proficiency in cost estimation tools, spreadsheets, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to coordinate with engineering, project management, purchasing, and other departments to develop technical and commercial proposals.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer service skills.
  • Sales experience is an advantage.
  • Systematic, assertive, flexible, and able to work effectively under pressure.
  • Independent, results-oriented, and capable of meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent written and spoken English; knowledge of Dutch is an advantage.
  • Willing to relocate to the Netherlands for a minimum of two years.
  • Must have a newly renewed passport.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and calculations for electrical installations in yachts and other maritime projects.
  • Calculate material costs, labor hours, subcontracting expenses, and other project-related costs.
  • Review electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, technical specifications, and project requirements.
  • Develop quotations, cost calculation files, project budgets, and commercial proposals.
  • Analyze technical requirements and determine the resources needed to complete electrical installation work.
  • Coordinate with engineering, project management, purchasing, and other departments to obtain accurate cost information.
  • Evaluate supplier quotations and subcontractor costs as part of the estimation process.
  • Ensure that estimates are accurate, complete, commercially competitive, and submitted within deadlines.
  • Maintain organized cost calculation files, spreadsheets, and project documentation.
  • Support discussions with customers and internal teams regarding technical and commercial proposals.
  • Identify potential cost risks, discrepancies, and opportunities for cost optimization.
  • Assist with sales activities and customer negotiations when required.

Salary Package:

  • Salary starts at € 4,431 gross monthly.
  • Forty-two (40) working hours / Five (5) days a week.
  • Accommodation will be provided.
  • Contract duration is 2 years.
