Al Thiqa Restaurants Company is seeking an experienced and passionate Barista specializing in matcha preparation and premium matcha-based beverages. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing high-quality matcha drinks, maintaining consistent beverage standards, and delivering excellent customer service. Applicants should have strong practical knowledge of matcha grades, traditional preparation techniques, beverage recipes, and modern matcha drink presentations.

Barista (Matcha Specialist)

Qualifications:

• Proven experience working as a Barista, preferably in a specialty coffee shop, matcha café, or premium beverage outlet.
• Strong practical knowledge of matcha grades, preparation methods, proper whisking techniques, and beverage presentation.
• Experience preparing matcha lattes, iced matcha, ceremonial-style matcha, and other matcha-based beverages.
• Knowledge of milk steaming, alternative milk options, beverage recipes, and drink consistency.
• Previous experience in specialty matcha preparation is highly preferred.
• Good understanding of food safety, sanitation, and personal hygiene standards.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced café or restaurant environment.
• Attention to detail and commitment to beverage quality and presentation.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow established operating procedures.
• Willingness to work in Kuwait and comply with the employer’s requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare a variety of matcha-based beverages, including matcha lattes, iced matcha, ceremonial-style matcha, and specialty matcha drinks.
• Select and handle appropriate matcha grades according to beverage recipes and preparation requirements.
• Apply proper matcha preparation techniques, including accurate measuring, sifting, whisking, and mixing.
• Prepare beverages using traditional matcha whisking methods and modern café techniques.
• Maintain consistent beverage quality, flavor, texture, temperature, and presentation.
• Prepare milk-based drinks using dairy and alternative milk options, applying proper steaming and mixing techniques.
• Follow standardized recipes and portion guidelines to ensure consistency across all beverages.
• Provide friendly, professional, and efficient customer service.
• Assist customers with beverage recommendations and explain matcha varieties, flavors, and preparation methods.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in beverage preparation areas, equipment, utensils, and workstations.
• Follow food safety procedures and proper storage practices for matcha powder, milk, and other ingredients.
• Monitor ingredient stocks, minimize waste, and report replenishment requirements.
• Work efficiently with team members to maintain smooth café operations during busy periods.
