Airconditioning & Refrigeration Technician

Qualifications:

• Must have a Technical/Vocational Certificate or Diploma in Air Conditioning & Refrigeration, HVAC, or a related field.
• Must have a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
• Extensive hands-on experience in the installation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC and refrigeration systems.
• Proven experience working with split-type, package, central air-conditioning systems, chillers, and refrigeration systems.
• Strong ability to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and refrigerant-related issues.
• Knowledge of proper refrigerant handling, charging, recovery, and leak detection procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, wiring diagrams, equipment manuals, and manufacturer’s instructions.
• Good knowledge of HVAC components, refrigeration cycles, electrical controls, compressors, condensers, evaporators, and related equipment.
• Ability to use HVAC testing instruments, hand tools, and specialized service equipment effectively.
• Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to perform preventive maintenance and identify potential equipment failures.
• Good understanding of workplace safety and proper handling of refrigerants and HVAC equipment.
• Physically fit and capable of performing hands-on maintenance work in various working environments.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Reliable, disciplined, detail-oriented, and committed to quality workmanship.

Responsibilities:

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair air-conditioning and refrigeration systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration equipment to ensure reliable and efficient operation.
• Inspect air-conditioning and refrigeration systems for defects, wear, leaks, abnormal operation, and other potential problems.
• Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, and refrigerant-related faults.
• Work on split-type, package, central air-conditioning systems, chillers, and refrigeration equipment.
• Conduct routine inspection and servicing of compressors, condensers, evaporators, motors, fans, pumps, thermostats, controls, and related components.
• Check refrigerant pressures and system operating conditions and perform adjustments as required.
• Carry out refrigerant charging, recovery, and leak detection in accordance with proper procedures.
• Identify and repair refrigerant leaks and ensure systems are properly sealed before recharging.
• Perform cleaning and servicing of coils, filters, drain lines, condenser units, evaporators, and other HVAC components.
• Test electrical components, wiring, controls, motors, capacitors, relays, and other system components.
• Read and interpret technical diagrams, wiring diagrams, equipment manuals, and manufacturer’s instructions.
• Use appropriate testing instruments, hand tools, and specialized HVAC equipment safely and correctly.
• Conduct system testing after installation, maintenance, or repair to verify proper performance.
• Monitor temperature, pressure, airflow, electrical readings, and other operating parameters.
• Identify recurring equipment problems and recommend appropriate corrective or preventive measures.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance activities, repairs, refrigerant servicing, and equipment condition.
• Ensure all maintenance work is completed according to established technical specifications and safety requirements.
• Follow proper procedures for the handling, storage, recovery, and disposal of refrigerants and related materials.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in clean, safe, and serviceable condition.
• Coordinate with supervisors, engineers, facility personnel, and other technicians when carrying out maintenance and repair work.
• Respond to HVAC and refrigeration breakdowns and emergency maintenance requirements when necessary.
• Follow workplace health and safety procedures, including appropriate use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Perform other HVAC, air-conditioning, refrigeration, and maintenance duties as assigned.
