The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on Tuesday warned the public against phishing attempts using platforms connected with the agency.
“The DOLE warns the public against unverified and illegitimate online transactions or platforms claiming to be affiliated with the Department using the PhilJobNet and the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) brands, and subsequently asking its registrants to deposit money in exchange for ‘commissions’,” the DOLE said in a press statement.
It also advised the public that there is no registration fee or commission fee given to registrants of the PhilJobNet, the government’s online platform that matches job seekers with job postings/ employers.
The DOLE also clarified that it is not affiliated, associated, authorized, endorsed by, or in any way officially connected to any ‘Norbert Jr. V’, ‘Collen Antoinette Marquez’, or any other similar personalities claiming money in exchange for “commissions”.
It added that they neither operate nor offer their services through the WhatsApp application.
“Again, the public is advised to remain vigilant and to not be fooled by these unscrupulous individuals claiming to be affiliated with the Government or its officials to further their illegal activities. Please do not entertain or transact with them,” he added.
He also urged the public to check and validate the legitimacy of the offers by contacting the Bureau of Local Employment at telephone number 8527-2539 or through electronic mail address email@example.com, firstname.lastname@example.org, and email@example.com. (PNA)
