Job Location: Maldives

Hondaafushi Island Resort is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accountant to join its finance and accounting team in the Maldives. The successful candidate will oversee daily accounting operations, prepare financial reports, monitor hotel revenues, manage AP/AR, perform reconciliations, and support cost control and financial planning.

ACCOUNTANT

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 4 years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong experience in hotel or resort accounting, preferably in a 4-star or 5-star property.
  • Experience in month-end closing, financial reporting, reconciliations, revenue audit, AP/AR, and cost control.
  • Experience working with hotel accounting systems and Property Management Systems (PMS) is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of hotel revenue streams and financial controls.
  • Good understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and reconciliation procedures.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and coordinate effectively with different hotel departments.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily accounting operations and maintain accurate and complete financial records.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, management reports, budgets, forecasts, and financial analyses.
  • Monitor and reconcile daily hotel revenues from rooms, food and beverage, spa, excursions, activities, and other revenue sources.
  • Review PMS, POS, and accounting system reports to ensure accurate recording of hotel revenues.
  • Investigate and resolve revenue discrepancies and reporting variances.
  • Manage and monitor Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).
  • Monitor supplier accounts, guest accounts, aging reports, and collections.
  • Coordinate with relevant departments on cost control, inventory, stocktaking, and expense monitoring.
  • Prepare and review bank, cash, credit card, general ledger, balance sheet, and inter-company reconciliations.
  • Assist in month-end and year-end closing activities.
  • Ensure financial transactions are recorded accurately and within the correct accounting period.
  • Maintain proper supporting documentation for accounting transactions and financial reports.
  • Monitor expenses and assist management in identifying opportunities for improved cost efficiency.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure proper financial controls and reporting procedures.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing accurate financial records and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and established financial procedures.
  • Perform other accounting and finance duties as assigned.
