Job Description: Maintenance Fitter

An established engineering company in Northern Ireland is looking for an experienced Maintenance Fitter to join their team. This role focuses on the maintenance, repair, and servicing of industrial machinery used in welding, cutting, bending, CNC machining, and metal fabrication. The ideal candidate should have a strong mechanical background with some electrical knowledge to troubleshoot and repair equipment efficiently.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Maintenance Fitter, Mechanical Technician, or similar role in an engineering, manufacturing, or industrial setting.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems (hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, conveyors, etc.).
• Some experience with electrical systems (motors, wiring – preferred but not required).
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and electrical schematics.
• Hands-on experience with welding and fabrication equipment (preferred).
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
• Good awareness of health & safety regulations in an industrial setting.
• Relevant technical qualification in mechanical or industrial maintenance.

Responsibilities:

• Perform preventive and reactive maintenance on CNC machines, welders, press brakes, cutting, and bending equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults in production machinery.
• Replace and install hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical components (motors, bearings, belts, gears, etc.).
• Assist in the installation and commissioning of new machinery.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
• Conduct basic electrical fault finding and repairs on motors, wiring, and control systems.
• Work efficiently to minimize downtime and ensure optimal machine performance.
• Maintain accurate records and comply with health & safety regulations.
