Diver

Qualifications:

• Possess extensive experience in Commercial Diving
• Possess relevant diving qualifications from a recognised training provider.
• Excellent knowledge in dive safety procedures, dive supervisor procedures and rescue diver procedures.
• Previous experience in working in a multi-cultural environment
• Must have a methodical and well-organized approach to the work environment
• Must be able to deal with short time frames and handle multiple competing priorities

Responsibilities:

• Performs cutting and welding of steel, using underwater welding equipment, jigs, and supports.
• Ongoing underwater maintenance to our ship lift system. Rail and wedge car.
• Be a part of all diving operations within PNG Dockyard, in relation to docking vessels. Up-slip, down –slip.
• Responsible for the maintenance and up-keep of all dive equipment, dive consumables and dive store.
• Inspects and maintains diving equipment, such as helmets, masks, air tanks, harnesses, and gauges.
• To be an integrated part of the PNG Dockyards Maintenance department when not on diving operations.
• Working with Docking crew and maintenance crews setting out and building ship cradles for up-slip of vessels.
• Working on board vessels as part of a maintenance team completing various shipborne jobs.
• Assisting the Dock Master with vessel movements within PNG Dockyard basin and facility.
• Training of national Dockyard staff in basic scuba air dive procedures, intermediate scuba air dive procedures and advance underwater operations.
• Uses underwater cameras and other equipment to inspect and record condition of docks, ships, buoy systems, and underwater pipelines, rail and
  cables.
• Takes photographs and gathers test samples to evaluate the condition of vessels or structures
• Installs footings and pilings for piers or bridges. Underwater repair of ships, bridges, or other structures below the waterline.
• Performs other duties as assigned within the PNG Dockyard footprint.
• Performs underwater search and rescue, salvage, recovery, or clean-up operations.
• Ensures appropriate dive safety measures are taken, monitors dive lengths and depths and or deco stop safety requirements when on dive
