Telecom & Data Technicians

Qualifications:

• Completion of a technical diploma, certificate, or associate degree program in Telecommunications Technology, Network Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Computer Networking, or a related field is typically required.
• Relevant hands-on experience in telecommunications, data networking, electrical, or technician roles, including exposure to installation processes, maintenance procedures, troubleshooting methods, repair practices, and field conditions within specific industries and applications.
• Demonstrated technical proficiency, practical skills, and competence in performing installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and testing tasks related to telecommunications and data networking systems and equipment under the guidance and supervision of experienced technicians or engineers.

Technical Skills:

• Telecommunications and Data Networking Knowledge: Solid understanding of telecommunications principles, data networking technologies, network architectures, protocols, services, systems, equipment, devices, infrastructure, and associated technologies such as IP (Internet Protocol), Ethernet, MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching), VPN (Virtual Private Network), VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol), and more.
• Installation and Maintenance: Proficiency in installing, configuring, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing telecommunications and data networking systems, infrastructure, equipment, devices, and components using specialized tools, equipment, software, and diagnostic methodologies.
• Safety Protocols: Knowledge of safety practices, regulations, standards, and compliance requirements related to telecommunications, data networking, electrical operations, and equipment to ensure personal safety and the safe and reliable installation, maintenance, and operation of systems and components.
• Tools and Equipment: Familiarity with a wide range of telecommunications tools, testing instruments, network analyzers, diagnostic devices, software applications, and equipment commonly used in installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair tasks within specific industries and applications.
