Warning on illegal recruitment conducted by unauthorized agents

The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) reiterates its warning to the public that recruitment activities conducted by any person without license or authority is considered as illegal recruitment

Illegal recruitment refers to acts of hiring or procuring workers for employment abroad and includes advertising, promising or referring for overseas work, when undertaken by non-licensee or non-holder of authority Agents who are not registered with the POEA are illegal recruiters.

Warning is also issued to Private Recruitment Agencies (PRAs) and Licensed Manning Agencies (LMAs), that allowing non-authorized agents to operate on their behalf in recruiting OFWs is a violation of POEA Rules and Regulations and will be penalized with suspension or cancelation of license. The POEA may also institute criminal action against erring PRAs and LMAs who will violate said Rules.

Overseas job seekers are advised to use the online verification system at the Department of Migrant Workers’ website (www dmw gov.ph) or email the DMW Information Center at connect@dmw.gov.ph to confirm overseas employment offers. We also encourage the public to immediately report any suspicious recruitment activities to the Operations and Surveillance Division via email at osd@dmw gov.ph.
