Membreys Transport & Crane Hire PTY LTD is seeking qualified and experienced Welders / Fabricators to join its team in Australia. The successful candidates will be responsible for welding, structural steel fabrication, tack welding, plate work, and related fabrication tasks while maintaining high standards of workmanship, safety, and quality. Candidates must be able to interpret engineering and workshop drawings accurately and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Welder / Fabricator

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience as a Welder / Fabricator.
• Proven experience with MIG/FCAW welding.
• GTAW (TIG) pipe welding experience is highly desirable.
• Extensive experience in fabricating and tack welding structural carbon steel and plate work.
• Ability to read and accurately interpret engineering and workshop drawings.
• Strong knowledge of welding, fabrication, fitting, and metalworking techniques.
• Consistently high standard of workmanship with exceptional attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to safety and quality.
• Completed four-year high school education, with at least 1 year of vocational or college education; a four-year undergraduate course is also accepted.
• Good English communication skills.
• Must be able to provide a Certificate of Employment (COE) confirming relevant work experience.
• Currently employed or previously employed within the last 6 months, with a COE available from the previous employer.
• Physically fit and capable of performing welding, fabrication, and workshop duties.

Responsibilities:

• Perform MIG/FCAW welding on structural carbon steel, plate work, and fabricated components.
• Perform tack welding and structural steel fabrication according to engineering specifications.
• Carry out GTAW (TIG) pipe welding when required.
• Fabricate and assemble structural carbon steel components and plate work.
• Measure, mark, cut, fit, align, and prepare metal components for welding and fabrication.
• Read and accurately interpret engineering drawings, workshop drawings, plans, and fabrication specifications.
• Set up welding machines, tools, equipment, and workpieces according to job requirements.
• Select appropriate welding processes, consumables, settings, and techniques for different materials and applications.
• Perform grinding, cleaning, preparation, and finishing of welded components.
• Inspect welds and fabricated structures for defects, dimensional accuracy, alignment, and overall quality.
• Repair or rework welds and fabricated components when necessary.
• Ensure fabricated components meet required specifications, tolerances, and quality standards.
• Use hand tools, power tools, cutting equipment, grinders, clamps, and other fabrication equipment safely.
• Maintain welding machines, tools, and equipment in good working condition.
• Follow established welding procedures, workshop practices, and technical instructions.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow workplace health and safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Identify and report equipment defects, material issues, or safety hazards to supervisors.
• Work independently to complete assigned fabrication and welding tasks within required timeframes.
• Collaborate with fabricators, welders, supervisors, engineers, and other workshop personnel.
• Maintain a consistently high standard of workmanship and attention to detail.
• Perform other welding, fabrication, and workshop duties as assigned.
