Qualifications:

• Minimum of two (2) years of working experience as a Turner, Machinist, or Lathe Operator.
• Candidates must possess a Vocational Diploma or Short Course Certificate in a related field.
• Proven experience in marine, industrial, shipyard, or heavy engineering environments.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical documentation.
• Knowledge of conventional and CNC machining operations.
• Familiarity with dimensional tolerances and precision measurement techniques.
• Knowledge of shipyard safety procedures and regulations.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance or repair team.
• Willing to work in workshop environments and onboard vessels as required.

Responsibilities:

• Perform turning and machining operations as part of ship repair and vessel refit projects.
• Repair, refurbish, and manufacture shafts, bushings, flanges, sleeves, bearing housings, and other mechanical components.
• Operate conventional and/or CNC lathes to produce precision-machined components.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and machining instructions.
• Carry out dimensional inspections using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
• Restore worn or damaged components to specified tolerances and engineering requirements.
• Support maintenance and repair teams during vessel overhaul and refit activities.
• Perform machining work in workshop facilities and onboard vessels when required.
• Set up, adjust, and maintain machining equipment to ensure efficient operations.
• Ensure all machining activities comply with quality standards and technical specifications.
• Follow workplace safety procedures and shipyard regulations at all times.
• Maintain accurate records of completed work, inspections, and repairs.
• Keep work areas, tools, and machinery clean and properly maintained.
