Ship Hull Fabricator

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 5 year(s) of working experience is required.
• Candidates must be a Vocational Diploma / Short Course Certificate holder in Engineering (Metal Fabrication/Tool & Die/Welding) or similar fields.
• Must have proven work experience in the shipbuilding industry.
• At least 5 years of experience in ship hull or structural steel assembly is preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and shipbuilding specifications.
• Knowledge of metal fabrication, fitting, alignment, and structural assembly.
• Able to work in demanding shipyard environments and handle physically strenuous tasks.
• Strong attention to detail, teamwork, and commitment to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities:

• Construct and assemble the metal frame and hull of ships according to approved blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
• Assemble ship sections, blocks, frames, plates, and other structural components in the shipyard.
• Position, align, fit, and secure steel components to ensure accurate hull construction.
• Measure and inspect structural components to ensure proper dimensions, alignment, and fit-up.
• Use appropriate hand tools, power tools, lifting equipment, and fabrication equipment during assembly.
• Coordinate with welders, pipe fitters, riggers, and other shipyard personnel during construction activities.
• Identify and report structural defects, alignment issues, or discrepancies in drawings and specifications.
• Follow shipbuilding quality standards, workplace safety procedures, and proper material-handling practices.
• Maintain tools and equipment and keep the work area clean and organized.
