Daeah Engineering & Construction Co. Ltd. is seeking a qualified Safety Officer to promote and maintain a safe working environment for construction projects in Mozambique. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing health, safety, and environmental (HSE) programs, conducting site inspections, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and supporting the project’s commitment to incident prevention.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years of relevant working experience as a Safety Officer in construction, industrial, or engineering projects.
• Bachelor’s/College Degree in Engineering (Others) or a related field.
• Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations, risk assessment, and Permit to Work (PTW) systems.
• Familiarity with hot work, confined space entry, excavation safety, and other high-risk construction activities.
• Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prepare safety reports and conduct inspections and incident investigations.
• Experience in EPC, oil and gas, petrochemical, power plant, or heavy industrial construction projects is an advantage.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct daily site safety inspections to identify unsafe conditions, unsafe acts, and potential workplace hazards.
• Issue or verify work permits, including hot work, confined space entry, excavation, and other permits, in accordance with company procedures and the Permit to Work (PTW) system.
• Report unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, near misses, and incidents to supervisors and management, and assist in implementing corrective actions.
• Monitor compliance with company HSE policies, project safety procedures, and applicable safety regulations.
  Conduct toolbox talks, safety orientations, and awareness programs for employees and subcontractors.
• Participate in hazard identification, risk assessments, and job safety analyses (JSA).
  Investigate incidents and accidents, prepare reports, and recommend preventive measures.
• Ensure workers use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safe work practices.
• Maintain safety records, inspection reports, and other HSE documentation.
  Perform other health, safety, and environmental duties assigned by management.
