Workforce Abundance Pty Ltd is seeking a skilled and experienced Plasterer to perform plasterboard installation, plastering, rendering, surface preparation, decorative finishes, and related painting work in residential and commercial construction projects. The successful candidate should have strong attention to detail, pride in workmanship, and the ability to work safely and efficiently in a variety of construction environments.

Qualifications:

• Trade qualification in Plastering or at least 3 years of full-time relevant experience.
• Proven experience as a Plasterer with additional painting skills.
• Valid Driver’s Licence.
• Strong English language ability to understand work instructions and communicate effectively.
• High attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
• Reliable, honest, and hardworking with a strong work ethic.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Experience working in residential and commercial construction environments.
• Ability to work safely at heights.
• Ability to work in confined spaces when required.
• Ability to work effectively in hot North Queensland conditions.
• Practical experience with plasterboard installation, plastering, rendering, surface preparation, and painting.
• Good knowledge of plastering materials, application techniques, tools, and finishing methods.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, measurements, and specifications.
• Strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
• Good problem-solving skills and ability to identify and correct surface and finishing defects.
• Physically fit and capable of performing manual construction work, including lifting, bending, reaching, and working in various positions.

Responsibilities:

• Measure, cut, and install plasterboard to walls and ceilings according to plans and specifications.
• Install battens, insulation, and vapour barriers as required.
• Prepare walls, ceilings, and other surfaces by cleaning, sealing, repairing cracks, and removing old plaster or damaged materials.
• Assess surface conditions and ensure areas are properly prepared before plastering or painting.
• Mix and apply plaster, render, or cement coatings to internal and external surfaces.
• Achieve smooth, even, durable, and high-quality plaster finishes.
• Tape, set, and finish plasterboard joints to produce seamless surfaces.
• Cover screw and nail holes, sand joints and surfaces, and prepare them for final coatings.
• Install cornices, mouldings, and decorative plaster elements accurately and in accordance with building plans.
• Perform painting and finishing work, including patching, surface preparation, colour matching, and application of final coatings.
• Apply decorative and protective finishes such as texture coatings, ornamental plasterwork, and mouldings.
• Repair, restore, and refinish damaged plaster, plasterboard, and wall surfaces.
• Carry out repair and restoration work on heavily worn or heritage structures when required.
• Interpret construction drawings, plans, specifications, measurements, and work instructions to determine plastering requirements.
• Measure and calculate material quantities required for plastering and finishing work.
• Use trowels, floats, sanders, mixers, cutting tools, and other hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Inspect completed plastering and painting work to ensure surfaces are level, smooth, properly aligned, and free from visible defects.
• Coordinate with supervisors, carpenters, painters, builders, and other trades to maintain smooth project workflow.
• Work independently when required and complete assigned tasks within project schedules.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area throughout construction activities.
• Properly store tools, equipment, and materials after use.
• Follow occupational health and safety requirements, safe work practices, and required PPE procedures.
• Work safely at heights, in confined spaces, and in hot working conditions when required.
• Report material defects, site hazards, damaged surfaces, or other construction issues to supervisors.
• Perform other plastering, rendering, finishing, and related construction duties as assigned.
