Pipe Fitter

Qualifications:

• Relevant trade qualification in Metal Fabrication, Engineering – Fabrication Trade, Pipe Fitting, or an equivalent overseas qualification.
• Demonstrated experience fabricating and assembling steel and pipe components from engineering and isometric drawings.
• Demonstrated experience in marking out, measuring, cutting, shaping, fitting and assembling metal components.
• Ability to perform TIG tack welding for fit-up and preparation of fabricated assemblies.

Responsibilities:

• Interpret engineering drawings, fabrication drawings, specifications and isometric piping drawings to determine fabrication requirements.
• Fabricate, assemble and fit metal and pipe components in accordance with drawings, specifications and required dimensions.
• Mark out, measure and prepare metal and pipe components for cutting, shaping, fitting and assembly.
• Cut, shape, grind, bevel and prepare steel components and pipes using appropriate hand and power tools.
• Assemble fabricated components and pipe sections, ensuring correct alignment, dimensions and fit-up prior to welding.
• Perform TIG tack welding to secure components and pipe assemblies in preparation for final welding
• Fabricate and assemble pipe spools and associated metal components from isometric drawings.
• Install fabricated pipe assemblies and components onto modules and structural assemblies.
• Use hand tools, measuring equipment, cutting equipment and other fabrication tools required to complete fabrication and fitting activities.
• Work collaboratively with welders and other trades to ensure fabricated components are correctly prepared and ready for welding and installation
• Maintain required standards of workmanship, productivity and quality control.
• Comply with workplace health and safety requirements, procedures and industry standards.
• Perform other metal fabrication and pipe fitting duties as required.
