Marine Engineering Manager

Qualifications:

• Must have three (3) to five (5) years of relevant experience in the marine industry.
• Must have relevant experience working on yachts, marine pleasure crafts, or similar marine vessels.
• Must have hands-on experience and technical knowledge relevant to the Marine Engineering Manager position.
• Strong practical knowledge of marine engineering, vessel maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and technical operations.
• Experience supervising or coordinating marine mechanics, technicians, electricians, fabricators, or other technical personnel.
• Knowledge of vessel mechanical, propulsion, electrical, and auxiliary systems.
• Ability to interpret technical manuals, drawings, specifications, maintenance procedures, and engineering instructions.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify technical issues and coordinate appropriate solutions.
• Must be able to follow technical instructions and ensure that assigned work is completed according to required specifications.
• Must be able to maintain quality workmanship, precision, and attention to detail.
• Must observe workplace safety procedures and ensure safe working practices within the technical team.
• Ability to plan, prioritize, coordinate, and monitor multiple maintenance and repair activities.
• Good communication and teamwork skills when working with technical personnel, supervisors, contractors, and management.
• Physically fit and capable of working in marine, workshop, and vessel environments when required.
• Reliable, responsible, organized, and capable of leading technical personnel in a professional marine environment.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee and coordinate marine engineering, maintenance, repair, and technical activities for yachts, marine pleasure crafts, and similar vessels.
• Supervise marine mechanics, technicians, electricians, fabricators, and other technical personnel as assigned.
• Plan and coordinate preventive maintenance, servicing, inspection, repair, and refurbishment activities.
• Inspect vessel mechanical, electrical, propulsion, and other engineering systems to identify maintenance requirements.
• Diagnose and coordinate the resolution of mechanical, electrical, and technical problems affecting vessel operations.
• Review technical reports, inspection findings, repair requirements, and maintenance records.
• Ensure maintenance and repair activities are performed according to manufacturer specifications, technical standards, and approved procedures.
• Coordinate scheduled servicing and preventive maintenance to minimize equipment downtime and operational interruptions.
• Monitor the quality, progress, and completion of engineering and maintenance work.
• Review completed work to ensure proper installation, functionality, reliability, and quality workmanship.
• Assist technical personnel with complex troubleshooting and repair activities when required.
• Coordinate procurement and availability of spare parts, tools, equipment, materials, and technical supplies.
• Maintain accurate records of vessel maintenance, repairs, inspections, parts, equipment, and engineering activities.
• Develop and maintain maintenance schedules and ensure assigned tasks are completed within required timelines.
• Identify recurring technical problems and recommend appropriate corrective or preventive measures.
• Ensure proper handling and maintenance of marine tools, equipment, machinery, and workshop facilities.
• Coordinate with vessel owners, management, supervisors, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders regarding technical requirements.
• Monitor compliance with workplace safety procedures, marine safety requirements, and company policies.
• Ensure appropriate use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe working practices by technical personnel.
• Investigate equipment failures, technical incidents, and maintenance-related issues and recommend corrective actions.
• Support vessel inspections, commissioning, testing, sea trials, and other technical activities as required.
• Monitor engineering work performed by external contractors and verify that completed work meets specifications.
• Maintain proper housekeeping and safe working conditions in workshops, vessels, and technical work areas.
• Provide technical guidance, training, and support to marine engineering personnel when required.
• Prepare or assist with technical reports, maintenance summaries, work schedules, and other engineering documentation.
• Perform other marine engineering management and technical duties assigned by management.
