Maintenance Technician

Qualifications:

• At least five (5) years’ well-rounded experience in variety of the building trades including carpentry, plumbing, air conditioning, electrical, and painting.
• Ability to use tools and equipment in all the relevant trades.

Responsibilities;

• Assists in scheduling and doing regular inspections of buildings, facilities, and equipment to identify repair and maintenance needs.
• Carries out carpentry work including repairs of chairs and closets, and replacement or repair of broken door panels, locksets, and hinges.
• Carries out plumbing work including repair of broken pipes, flushing mechanisms, and faucets, and troubleshooting clogged drains and toilet bowls.
• Carries out electrical work including troubleshooting and repairs or replacement of malfunctioning or broken electrical outlets, circuit breakers, and light bulbs.
• Carries out periodic or urgent servicing of air conditioning equipment.
• Assist in trouble shooting centralized air conditioning systems.
• Carries out painting work mainly involving retouching or partial painting of walls.
• Reports to superiors on major damage, defects, and deterioration of facilities.
• Refers highly technical matters to superiors.
• Responds to emergency or urgent calls for assistance regarding repairs and maintenance works.
• Assists in updating records of inspections and maintenance activities.
• Performs other duties as assigned

Employer Overview:

The Philippine School Bahrain (PSB) was established in 1994 through the initiative and cooperative efforts of 27 Filipinos who became its founders. The school provides pre-elementary, elementary and secondary education to Filipino children in the Kingdom of Bahrain. It uses the Philippine curriculum to facilitate the smooth integration of home-bound children in the mainstream of Philippine education system. Upon the approval of the Ministry of Education, and with three rented villas at the Kanoo Gardens, it formally opened its doors to Filipino students on 26 August 1995. Because of its strong commitment to provide quality education, the PSB was recognized by the Philippine government on 30 March 2000. Through the leadership of the Board of Governors headed by Mr. Rodrigo Acosta, Chairman, and Mr. Reuel Castro, Vice-Chairman, the PSB has become an institution which promotes not only academic excellence but also Filipino values and cultural heritage among Filipino children in Bahrain.

Today, through the bayanihan spirit and unwavering support of Filipinos in Bahrain as well as the unfailing generosity of the government of the Kingdom of Bahrain, the PSB has developed into a big institution of learning in a spacious campus at A’Ali. The PSB is a Filipino home away from home.
