KITCHEN ASSISTANT

Qualifications:

  • A strong understanding of food safety and hygiene practices is crucial to ensure the health and well-being of customers.
  • Many establishments require kitchen staff to have a food handler’s permit or certification.
  • The role often requires standing for long periods, performing repetitive tasks, and lifting heavy items such as pots and trays.
  • Good physical condition is essential.
  • Effective communication and teamwork are vital, as kitchen staff must collaborate with chefs, waitstaff, and other team members to ensure smooth operations during service hours.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing ingredients, including washing, chopping, and measuring, to ensure timely meal service.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, including washing dishes, cleaning workstations, and ensuring compliance with food safety regulations
  • Unload and store deliveries, ensuring that all items are stored according to food safety guidelines
