The Ministry of Health Sultanate of Oman is seeking qualified and experienced General Practitioners specializing in Emergency Medicine for an overseas healthcare opportunity in Oman. The successful candidate will provide emergency assessment, diagnosis, stabilization, and treatment for patients with acute and life-threatening medical conditions.
GENERAL PRACTITIONER (EMERGENCY MEDICINE)
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of relevant working experience.
- Doctorate Degree in Medicine or a related medical field.
- Valid and current medical license/registration in the country of practice.
- Board certification or postgraduate training in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, General Practice, or a related specialty is preferred.
- Relevant experience as a General Practitioner, Emergency Physician, or Medical Officer.
- Experience in an emergency department or acute-care setting is highly advantageous.
- Strong clinical knowledge and experience in managing emergency and acute medical conditions.
- Ability to perform rapid patient assessment, triage, diagnosis, stabilization, and treatment.
- Strong clinical decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced emergency environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive medical assessments, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with emergency and acute conditions.
- Perform initial patient evaluations, including medical history, physical examination, vital signs, and clinical assessment.
- Conduct triage and prioritize patients according to the severity and urgency of their conditions.
- Manage emergency cases involving trauma, chest pain, respiratory distress, infections, allergic reactions, abdominal pain, and other acute illnesses.
- Provide immediate patient stabilization and emergency interventions.
- Perform resuscitation and life-support measures when required.
- Order and interpret appropriate laboratory tests, diagnostic studies, and imaging examinations.
- Develop appropriate treatment and management plans based on clinical findings.
- Monitor patients’ conditions and respond promptly to changes in their clinical status.
- Coordinate with specialists, nurses, paramedics, and other healthcare professionals.
- Maintain accurate and complete medical records and clinical documentation.
- Provide appropriate referrals and arrange further medical care when necessary.
- Follow established clinical protocols, hospital policies, and patient safety standards.
- Maintain professional and ethical standards in all patient interactions.
- Participate in emergency preparedness and other clinical activities as assigned.
