Fitness Manager


  • College degree in Physical Education, with Fitness Trainer Certificates or any equivalent certificates
  • 5 years of experience as a Personal Trainer
  • Current certification in Basic First Aid and CPR
  • Excellent communication skills with fluency in English language
  • Must have excellent company knowledge and ethos understanding
  • Proven success in basic administrative duties
  • Can develop good relationships with both staff and clients
  • Excellent customer focus and service delivery
  • Presentable and must have good grooming skills


  • Regularly interface with the Club Manager on the weekly schedule.
  • Administrates a Fitness Staff Database – including name, club, qualifications and telephone number – the report can be manually produced.
  • Produces a weekly/monthly report on course results and the events calendar.
  • Runs a weekly department meeting to facilitate keeping your staff well informed, to solve problems, and to set goals.
  • Conducting weekly meetings with the Fitness Trainers, Personal Trainers, and other Specialised Trainers (including Swimming Instructors, Football Coaches, etc.) to provide feedback, discuss activities from the previous week, review any new programs / promotions, and set objectives for the following week.
  • Evaluate each Fitness Trainer, Personal Trainer and other Specialised Trainers (including Swimming Instructors, Football Coaches, etc.) on a monthly basis by filling the evaluation forms.
  • Discusses with the Fitness Centre Manager on each Trainer’s performance and evaluation on a monthly basis.
  • Maintains constant communication with the Club Manager on all aspects of the fitness department and fitness event calendar planning. It is paramount to the success of the Fitness Department for the Fitness Manager to maintain an open line of communication on any issues relating to the fitness program.
  • Develops a class schedule for each week. The class schedule should be sent to the Area Fitness Manager/GX Specialist for confirmation
  • Updates GT Board daily, this responsibility includes managing the group exercise board (“GT Board”), ensuring cards are in place (class name, instructor name, etc.), allocating classes to each time slot, etc.
  • Coordinates with the Marketing department through the Fitness Centre Manager if class name cards and/or trainer name cards are not available.
  • Assigns a Trainer for each class in coordination with the Group Exercise Specialist and inform him of the weekly class schedule
  • Ensures compliance of all trainers with the developed schedule.
  • Reports on a weekly basis to the Area Fitness Manager on the group class performance (number of classes run, number of members per class, etc.
  • Ensures that all Fitness Trainers undergo proper training on how to use all the equipment used in conducting induction tests for new members.
  • Meets with the Fitness Centre Manager on a weekly basis to discuss personal training activities within the fitness centre, including a summary of sessions conducted in the previous week, targets for the upcoming week, and overall program / session scheduling.
  • Meets with Personal Trainers on a weekly basis to discuss performance from the previous week and targets for the upcoming week.
  • Ensures that all budgets and targets relating to personal training are being achieved.
  • Keeps track of each Personal Trainer’s conducted hours and ensuring that each Personal Trainer is carrying out the minimum number of hours (per shift, per week, etc.).

Operational Capabilities:

  • Introduces each new member to the Fitness Trainer based on their availability and staff scheduling.
  • Assigns a specialised trainer (i.e. a Personal Trainer) for each personal training member.
  • Follow ups with the Fitness Trainer to ensure program cards have been developed within the appropriate time frame.
  • Reports to the Fitness Centre Manager on a monthly basis on the number of new program cards created, the number expired during the period, and any new business opportunities resulting from the cards.
  • Trains and supervises all fitness staff.
  • Co-ordinates all personal programs and screening processes.
  • Training of all fitness staff in safety and gymnasium supervision.
  • Monitors equipment maintenance and cleanliness.
  • Co-ordinates member educational programs / seminars.
  • Develops and ensure smooth running of all fitness related activities.
  • Work closely with the Area Fitness Manager to accommodate new club training into the training schedule.
  • Implements fitness programs for new members.
  • Responsible for all individuals training requirements.
  • Implements a new members’ contact list, ensuring that the fitness staff prior to their first programme contacts all new members.
  • Promotes all fitness events and promotions within the club.
  • Maintains all equipment and make sure the gymnasium is hospital ‘clean’.
  • Conducts updated programs for established members to measure improvement and set new goals.
  • Trains all fitness staff to act as role models in practicing the principles of hospitality and customer service excellence.
  • Trains staff to use member’s names as they come in contact with them. Politely introduce yourself when interacting with members you do not know.
  • Ensures that your staffs actively promote club membership sales.
  • Understands that you are a representative of club management to the members and that you are a liaison between your staff and the club management.
  • Ensures that the clubs fitness programming is the best
  • Be prepared to present a seminar for the members of your club on a chosen subject at least once every other month.
  • Ensures that all fitness staffs are CPR qualified.
  • Establishes a strong structure for beginners through special attention.
  • Be available when called upon by your Club Manager / Area Fitness Manager to work additional or adjusted hours to meet the club’s needs during abnormal periods.


  • Must have a valid passport for more than 3 years
  • Employment certificates
  • NBI clearance valid for at least 1 year with “no derogatory / no record on file” remarks
  • PEOS certificate
