Fabricator

Qualifications:

• Experience in industrial metal fabrication, structural steel fabrication, platework, or pipe fabrication
• Demonstrated ability to fabricate structural steel and platework; industrial pipe fabrication experience is highly desirable
• Ability to interpret structural and fabrication drawings, isometric drawings, spool drawings, and specifications
• Practical experience in accurate marking out, cutting, fit-up, tack welding, and assembly of fabricated components
• Competence using workshop fabrication equipment, grinders, cutting tools, drills, and precision measuring instruments
• Experience on mining, fixed plant, bulk materials handling, SMP construction, shutdowns, or heavy industrial projects is highly regarded
• Understanding of fabrication tolerances, dimensional inspection, QA/QC procedures, and material traceability
• Strong commitment to safe work practices and compliance with workplace health and safety requirements
• Good communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently in a workshop and collaboratively on site
• Must have completed at least one (1) year vocational course or one (1) year in college
• Strong English communication skills
• Must have a valid Driver’s License

Responsibilities:

• Fabricate and assemble structural steel, platework, and industrial pipework for mining, resources, and heavy industrial projects
• Read and interpret fabrication drawings, structural drawings, isometric drawings, spool drawings, and engineering specifications
• Measure, mark out, cut, prepare, align, and fit steel sections, plates, pipes, and components ready for welding and assembly
• Fabricate and fit structural frames, supports, brackets, chutes, hoppers, conveyor components, pipe spools, and associated assemblies as required
• Perform accurate fit-up of flanges, pipe fittings, structural connections, and mechanical assemblies to drawings and tolerances
• Carry out tack welding, dimensional checks, and preparation of fabricated assemblies for final welding and inspection
• Safely operate workshop fabrication equipment including saws, grinders, drills, cutting and beveling equipment, and measuring tools
• Check dimensions, alignment, and workmanship and support quality assurance, inspection, and material traceability requirements
• Undertake fabrication in the workshop and assist with site installation and modification works as required
• Support structural, mechanical and piping (SMP) construction, shutdowns, maintenance, and capital works in industrial and mining environments
• Follow safe work procedures, risk assessments, and applicable Australian workplace health and safety requirements
