Duct Installer

Qualifications:

  • Three (3) to five (5) years of extensive and relevant experience in duct installation.
  • Highly experienced and skilled in duct installation and related HVAC work.
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of duct fabrication, assembly, installation, and sealing.
  • Ability to read and understand HVAC drawings, duct layouts, shop drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Skilled in measuring, cutting, fitting, assembling, and installing different types and sizes of ductwork.
  • Knowledge of duct fittings, dampers, transitions, branches, access panels, and related components.
  • Familiarity with duct supports, hangers, brackets, and suspension systems.
  • Knowledge of proper duct sealing and methods for minimizing air leakage.
  • Ability to coordinate ductwork installation with HVAC equipment and other building services.
  • Skilled in the safe use of hand tools, power tools, cutting equipment, and measuring instruments.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Physically fit and capable of performing demanding installation work, including lifting and positioning duct materials.
  • Willing and able to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in active construction environments when required.
  • Good teamwork, communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to follow technical instructions, project specifications, safety procedures, and supervisor directives.

Responsibilities:

  • Install HVAC and ventilation ductwork systems according to approved drawings, layouts, specifications, and project requirements.
  • Measure, mark, cut, assemble, and install duct sections accurately.
  • Perform duct installation for supply air, return air, exhaust, fresh air, and ventilation systems.
  • Read and interpret HVAC layouts, shop drawings, ducting plans, and technical specifications.
  • Properly align and position duct sections to ensure efficient airflow and system performance.
  • Install duct fittings, elbows, transitions, branches, dampers, access panels, and other related components.
  • Install duct supports, hangers, brackets, and suspension systems securely.
  • Join and seal duct sections properly to prevent air leakage.
  • Apply appropriate sealants, tapes, gaskets, insulation, and other materials as required.
  • Coordinate duct installation with HVAC equipment, diffusers, grilles, dampers, and other mechanical components.
  • Work closely with HVAC technicians, pipe fitters, electricians, welders, supervisors, and other construction personnel.
  • Check ductwork dimensions, alignment, level, and positioning before final installation.
  • Inspect completed ductwork for workmanship, proper connections, sealing, and compliance with specifications.
  • Identify and correct installation problems, air leakage, misalignment, and defective components.
  • Assist with duct testing, inspection, air balancing preparation, and system commissioning activities when required.
  • Handle duct materials, tools, equipment, and components safely during installation.
  • Operate appropriate hand tools, power tools, cutting equipment, and measuring instruments.
  • Maintain proper housekeeping and keep work areas free from unnecessary materials and hazards.
  • Follow approved installation procedures, work schedules, and project quality standards.
  • Observe workplace health and safety requirements, particularly when working at heights or in confined areas.
  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Report material shortages, damaged duct components, technical issues, and unsafe conditions to supervisors.
  • Assist in repair, modification, replacement, and adjustment of existing ductwork systems when required.
  • Perform other duct installation and HVAC-related duties assigned by management.
