Workforce Abundance Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Carpenter Joiner to construct, install, repair, and finish timber structures, fixtures, fittings, and related building components across workshop and construction site environments in Australia. The successful candidate will be able to interpret drawings and specifications, accurately measure and cut materials, construct timber frameworks and joinery, and work safely across both commercial and residential projects. The role may involve working in warm and tropical locations.
CARPENTER JOINER
Qualifications:
- Certificate IV qualification corresponding to ANZSCO Skill Level 3 is required.
- Minimum 4–5 years of relevant experience as a Carpenter, Joiner, or in a closely related trade.
- Must be willing to work in warm and tropical locations.
- Willing and able to perform both workshop and construction site work.
- Must be able to obtain an International Driver’s Licence.
- Must be able to demonstrate experience in two or more of the key tasks listed in the job description.
- Ability to provide all required documents to meet Australian migration eligibility criteria.
- Experience across both commercial and residential construction projects is highly desirable.
- Strong practical skills in carpentry, joinery, timber construction, installation, and repair.
- Ability to accurately read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, measurements, and installation instructions.
- Skilled in measuring, cutting, shaping, assembling, and joining timber and other construction materials.
- Experience constructing frameworks, roof framing, flooring, cladding, door and window frames, and other timber structures.
- Ability to cut and construct accurate wood joints and assemble prepared joinery components.
- Ability to construct concrete formwork.
- Experience working with plastic laminates, Perspex, and metals is an advantage.
- Competent in the safe use of carpentry hand tools, power tools, machinery, and measuring equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.
- Physically fit and capable of performing manual carpentry work in workshop and outdoor construction environments.
- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety regulations and safe work practices.
- Reliable, hardworking, adaptable, and willing to work according to project requirements and schedules.
Responsibilities:
- Study architectural drawings, plans, specifications, and work instructions to determine required materials, dimensions, construction methods, and installation procedures.
- Select and order appropriate timber, wood products, fasteners, hardware, and other materials required for assigned projects.
- Prepare accurate layouts and measurements before cutting, assembling, and installing materials.
- Measure, mark, cut, shape, and prepare timber and other materials according to project specifications.
- Assemble and nail cut and shaped timber components to construct structures and fittings.
- Construct and erect timber frameworks, panelized systems, and other structural components.
- Construct and install roof framing and related timber structures.
- Lay sub-flooring and floorboards and verify that completed structures are level, square, straight, and true.
- Install fascia panels, roof sheathing, exterior wall cladding, door frames, and window frames.
- Assemble prepared timber and joinery components into structures and fittings ready for installation.
- Cut and form accurate wood joints using appropriate hand and power tools.
- Construct concrete formwork for building and construction projects.
- Construct, install, and repair timber structures, fixtures, fittings, and joinery components.
- Repair existing timber fittings, fixtures, and structures as required.
- Work with plastic laminates, Perspex, and metals when required for joinery and construction projects.
- Use hand tools, power tools, cutting equipment, measuring instruments, and carpentry machinery safely and correctly.
- Check completed work for accuracy, quality, alignment, dimensions, and compliance with drawings and specifications.
- Identify material defects, construction issues, or installation problems and carry out appropriate corrections.
- Coordinate with other trades, supervisors, builders, and site personnel to ensure work is completed efficiently.
- Perform both workshop and construction site duties according to project requirements.
- Maintain tools, equipment, materials, and work areas in clean, organized, and serviceable condition.
- Follow workplace health and safety regulations, safe work procedures, and site requirements at all times.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain safe practices when handling timber, machinery, tools, and construction materials.
- Complete assigned carpentry and joinery work within required project schedules and quality standards.
- Perform other carpentry, joinery, installation, repair, and construction duties as assigned.
