Bulldozer Operator

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience.
• Minimum 5 years of experience operating bulldozers or relevant heavy equipment.
• Vocational Diploma / Short Course Certificate in Others or a related field.
• Minimum Lower Vocational Education (LBO) level or equivalent.
• Advanced operator and safety training is required.
• Basic Operator Training (BOT), Basic Operator Safety (BOS), and Machine Operator Training (MOT), with a minimum score of 70% where applicable.
• Demonstrated ability to safely and efficiently operate bulldozers in construction, earthmoving, mining, infrastructure, or similar work environments.
• Knowledge of road grading, earthmoving, stockpile management, material spreading, drainage, and site preparation.
• Physically fit and capable of performing heavy equipment operations in outdoor and varying site conditions.
• Good understanding of heavy equipment safety procedures and pre-start inspection requirements.
• Ability to identify and report equipment defects and operating issues promptly.
• Knowledge of workplace safety, risk assessment, JSA procedures, and proper PPE use.
• Must comply with HSEC-Q procedures, pre-job meetings, risk assessment/JSA requirements, and PPE rules.

Responsibilities:

• Operate bulldozers safely, efficiently, and effectively according to the intended use and operating requirements of the equipment.
• Level, grade, and maintain access roads, work areas, platforms, and stockpile areas.
• Perform earthmoving and grading activities while maintaining proper drainage and site conditions.
• Spread, level, and compact capping, clay, soil, aggregate, and other materials delivered by trucks or articulated dump trucks (ADTs).
• Push, spread, and distribute materials in a controlled and safe manner according to site requirements.
• Perform bush clearing and vegetation removal using the bulldozer in designated work areas.
• Carry out exploration, site preparation, clearing, and other bulldozer-related activities as assigned.
• Conduct excavation, backfilling, grading, and ground preparation activities where required.
• Maintain proper road profiles, slopes, drainage channels, and work surfaces.
• Operate the bulldozer in varying terrain and site conditions while maintaining control of the machine.
• Perform pre-start inspections and safety checks before operating the equipment.
• Check fluid levels, tracks, blades, controls, attachments, warning systems, and other critical components before each shift.
• Immediately report equipment defects, damage, unusual noises, leaks, or mechanical problems to the appropriate supervisor or maintenance personnel.
• Maintain good housekeeping and ensure the bulldozer is kept clean and in proper operating condition.
• Complete equipment checklists, operator inspection forms, and daily operating reports after each shift.
• Follow designated traffic routes, exclusion zones, site access requirements, and equipment operating procedures.
• Maintain safe distances from personnel, vehicles, trucks, ADTs, and other heavy equipment.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, spotters, survey personnel, truck operators, and other site workers.
• Follow pre-job meetings, risk assessments, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and site-specific operating procedures.
• Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with all HSEC-Q requirements.
• Assist with other earthmoving, site preparation, and heavy equipment operations as assigned by management.
