Qatar Airways is seeking a skilled and experienced Aircraft Mechanic (Welding Shop) to perform specialized welding and aircraft component rectification work in an aviation maintenance or aircraft component manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for TIG welding and resistance spot welding on aircraft components while meeting strict quality, safety, productivity, and QCAA/EASA Part-145 requirements.

Aircraft Mechanic (Welding Shop)

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 3 years of working experience is required.
• Candidates must be a Vocational Diploma / Short Course Certificate holder in Airline Transport, Engineering (Aviation/Aeronautics/Astronautics), or similar fields.
• Must have a valid Company Authorization for Welding.
• Must be an approved welder as per AWS D17 and BCAR Section A8-10.
• Required knowledge and practical skills in TIG welding on aluminum, titanium, nickel, and steel alloys used in aircraft components.
• Experience in an Aircraft/Component MRO or Aircraft Parts Manufacturing Facility is required.
• Strong knowledge of TIG welding equipment and its proper operation.
• Required practical skills in resistance spot welding on different aircraft components.
• Ability to operate welding equipment and tooling safely, accurately, and efficiently.
• Ability to interpret technical information and work instructions covering normal welding shop activities.
• Good understanding of aircraft component welding, repair, rectification, and quality requirements.
• Ability to work independently on assigned tasks under normal operating conditions while meeting established productivity standards.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality welding standards.
• Ability to identify welding defects and perform work in accordance with approved procedures.
• Knowledge of aircraft maintenance and component rectification requirements, including QCAA/EASA Part-145 standards.
• Strong commitment to aviation safety, workplace safety, and company health and safety policies.
• Good teamwork, communication, organization, and time-management skills.
• Reliable, disciplined, technically competent, and able to complete assigned tasks within required timeframes.

Responsibilities:

• Complete assigned welding shop and aircraft component rectification tasks within established procedures and required timeframes.
• Provide satisfactory service to customers by completing assigned work accurately and efficiently.
• Perform TIG welding on aircraft components using approved welding procedures and techniques.
• Carry out TIG welding on aluminum, titanium, nickel, and steel alloys used in aircraft components.
• Perform resistance spot welding on different types of aircraft components as required.
• Operate TIG welding equipment, resistance spot welding equipment, tools, and related workshop machinery safely and effectively.
• Set up and adjust welding equipment according to approved procedures and the requirements of the assigned task.
• Prepare aircraft components and surfaces for welding, including cleaning, fitting, alignment, and other required preparation activities.
• Interpret technical information, work instructions, drawings, specifications, and other documentation related to welding activities.
• Inspect welded components to ensure proper weld quality, dimensions, appearance, and compliance with applicable requirements.
• Identify welding defects, surface imperfections, or other quality concerns and carry out approved corrective or rectification procedures.
• Ensure aircraft component rectifications are completed in a timely manner and in accordance with defined QCAA/EASA Part-145 requirements.
• Follow approved maintenance procedures, welding specifications, quality standards, and workshop processes at all times.
• Maintain the required productivity standards and meet established time-frame objectives for assigned tasks.
• Work independently on assigned duties under normal operating conditions with minimal supervision.
• Maintain continuous and satisfactory operation of welding equipment and other workshop tools.
• Check welding equipment, tooling, and work areas and report defects or operational problems to the appropriate supervisor.
• Maintain proper control and handling of welding materials, consumables, tools, and aircraft components.
• Complete required work records, documentation, and task-related reports accurately.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe welding shop and work area.
• Comply fully with company health and safety policies, workshop procedures, and applicable aviation safety requirements.
• Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safe welding and material-handling practices.
• Coordinate with supervisors, inspectors, mechanics, and other technical personnel to ensure assigned work is completed correctly and on schedule.
• Perform other department duties related to the position as directed by the Head of the Department.

Requirements:

• Must have a valid passport for more than 3 years
• Employment certificates
• NBI clearance valid for at least 1 year with “no derogatory / no record on file” remarks
• PEOS certificate
