Bamboo Master Carpenter

Qualifications:

• At least High School Graduate
• 2 years of experience
• English proficiency preferred

Responsibilities:

• Lead structural bamboo construction including villas, glamping decks, pavilions, roofing and elevated walkways.
• Apply advanced joinery systems (fishmouth joints, pegging, lashing, concealed steel, node reinforcement).
• Fabricate bamboo furniture, custom joinery, fixtures and architectural features.
• Ensure consistent quality across all builds from fabrication to installation.

Bamboo Construction & Joinery (Leadership)

• Apply advanced joinery systems (fishmouth joints, pegging, lashing, concealed steel, node reinforcement).
• Fabricate bamboo furniture, custom joinery, fixtures and architectural features.
• Ensure consistent quality across all builds from fabrication to installation.

Team Supervision & Training

• Supervise a small crew of skilled bamboo carpenters and general labourers.
• Train local teams in bamboo selection, treatment, processing, joinery and installation.
• Support development of Pacific Ark’s training systems and construction protocols.

Bamboo Processing & Innovation

• Contribute to harvesting, species selection, field treatment and preservation processes.
• Work with the processing facility team on curing, shaping, cutting, bending and finishing.

Assist with prototype builds for new structures and product lines. Quality Assurance & Site Management

• Interpret construction drawings and implement them accurately on site.
• Maintain site organization, tool care, materials management and quality checks.
• Monitor timelines and support delivery of project milestones.

Individual Quality, Health, Safety & Environmental

• Demonstrate a personal commitment to Health, Safety, and the Environment;
• Raise occupational health and safety issues with your direct report where a risk has been identified;
• Apply Pacific Ark Health, Safety & Environment and Quality Policies and procedures;
• Assess the occupational health and safety hazards and risks in the workplace, specifically those relating to work undertaken and ensure appropriate control measures and implement before undertaking those tasks; and
• Appropriately apply and adhere to business systems, frameworks and tools.

Requirements:

• Must have a valid passport for more than 3 years
• Employment certificates
• NBI clearance valid for at least 1 year with “no derogatory / no record on file” remarks
• PEOS certificate
