Upholsterer

Qualifications:

• At least High School graduate
• Minimum 3 years of professional upholstery experience.
• Skilled in both furniture and automotive/marine upholstery.
• Proficient with hand tools, sewing machines, cutting tools, staple guns, and compressors.
• Strong understanding of fabrics, leathers, foams, and structural materials.
• Ability to read and interpret design plans, sketches, and measurements.
• Excellent craftsmanship, accuracy, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
• Physically fit and able to handle large or heavy furniture pieces.
• Willingness to relocate and work in Jamaica for a 2-year contract.
• Proficient in English
• Experience upholstering hotel or commercial furniture.
• Skilled in working with high-end materials and complex pattern designs.
• Experience in marine and automotive interiors including reupholstery of seats, panels, and cushions.
• Strong problem-solving ability for restoration and repair work.
• Knowledge of modern upholstery styles, techniques, and trends.

Responsibilities:

• Upholster, repair, and refurbish furniture including sofas, chairs, headboards, booths, automotive seats, and marine cushions.
• Measure, cut, sew, and fit fabric, vinyl, or leather to furniture, vehicle, or boat frames with precision and consistency.
• Replace or repair padding, springs, webbing, foam, and other internal materials as needed.
• Ensure correct alignment of patterns, even stitching, and clean finishing across all projects.
• Work with design and production teams to interpret client requirements, specifications, and technical drawings.
• Handle specialty upholstery projects such as custom vehicle interiors and marine seating.
• Maintain tools, sewing machines, and equipment in top condition.
• Uphold company quality standards and meet daily productivity goals.
• Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized workspace.

Requirements:

• Must have a valid passport for more than 3 years
• Employment certificates
• NBI clearance valid for at least 1 year with “no derogatory / no record on file” remarks
• PEOS certificate
